It`s in a marquee in the middle of a field.

Not to bad , 7kva generator , with just me and 2 chandeliers off it :D .
I set up this morning , only did it in time as the caterers arrived along with the wedding party  .
There is seating for 50 and a few covered bales of hay as extra seating , the disco is from 4:30 ish to 10:30.
The ground is uneven , but there is a small dance floor . I have provided 6 of the LEDJ colourbursts for up lighting.
First dance is Make you feel my love -Adele , cued up on the laptop as well as the CD just in case.
no other requests , just as long as everyone enjoy`s themselves :D .
I`ll take the camera , so pic`s soon.

Daryll,

Just relax and enjoy it ;) Had that Adele track as the first dance last week, got Chris Brown "with you" tonight.

Ask the guests for requests when you do your intro and you'll be fine.

Had a marquee wedding last september after that week of heavy rain was a great gig , finshed up being towed out of the field at 3 in the morning by a tractor  :D :D

A good wedding

Good dance floor all evening.
No problems , weather was great , the batteries ran out on the camera about 7:00 pm :Censored: .
There was one blip on the generator , everything went off for a few seconds , only the laptop with the dmx software needed re-booting as there is no battery in it :(

how on earth did you come up with that playlist?

Does your software log it for you?

Yes , it saves any song that was played , while the software is running.
Lets say I did a sound check with 2 songs at 6:00 pm , I would have a session file with the 2 songs and the time etc , If I left the software running , and then cleared the two songs and then did the gig , there would be another session file from when the gig started.

generaters not good for dj gear !

all generators? that's a ridiculous generalisation, isn't it?
...rather like saying "if you eat buffet food, you'll get food poisoning".

make sure you take a sort adapter with you will protect your gear if generator cuts out !!

a "sort adapter", hmmmmm. would you care to explain what one looks like & what it does, a link would be very useful. Funny I've never been asked for one of them.

The genny I had was great.

Very quite , really heavy duty blue cable ( about 10mm) , then into a free standing double socket , all for me :D

At the request of the bride , as most people had been celebrating from 2:30.
plus I was due to finish at 10:30 , about 1 1/2 to 2 hours earlier than normal ( whatever that is  .
But I do agree with you :) It did not help that the sun was shinning till 9:00 :Censored:
I will be the first to admit , my experience is still wanting , what I tried to do was play some tame songs first ( which lasted 15 minutes  ) , but the request were coming fast , so to keep the floor "alive" so to say , I tried to follow with the same style , did not all ways work :D :D
Still thats one under the belt ,A little more experience gained , and a few lessons learned .
We do it all again in a fortnight.

Cheers

I've had a few weddings like that, we started off with the first dance at 19:30 which was quite a slow number, and I had a couple of gentler tracks lined up to follow. Then right near the end of the first dance the father of the bride came running up and told me to follow on with a fast track and EVERYONE got up and danced, and the night just carried on in the same style until 23:30!!

At one point the mother of the bride came over and asked me what time I was finishing as she was absolutely cream crackered - I told her I had another two hours to go and she told me not to slow down, she'd just have to keep up because everyone else was having such a great time!!

In all fairness its very hard to comment without being there. Ive done a few gigs where Ive almost had to start high and work gently down rather than the other way round (which ideally it should be)

The show looks pretty good. I'd admit the playlist did seem odd with the timing of some songs but your paid for a professional service and if you felt that was the right song to play at that time then its ok.

One of the hardest parts of the nights is trying to hold back popular tracks and finding music that gets people tapping their feet before you start to unleash the floorfillers

I think he means a UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply), either way it will need to be a big one unless you are just running LED lights off of it. :p
