Hi all,
Had an enquiry last night and one this morning that have cheered me up considerably. If all enquiries were like this then it would be awesome.
Last night's enquiry was sent via the enquiry form on my website. I was sat there checking my emails before I went off to compere another fashion show when this one popped up. I always try to get back to people within the hour whenever possible and I state this on my website too and also in my autoreply on my email. I checked this one out straight away and decided to call the enquirer immediately. When the young lady answered the phone she said "Wow! That's quick, I only just pressed the 'send' button".
Anyway, the enquiry was for another 40th birthday party, this time in September (which needs filling up)...She said that she had actually been looking around the internet to get ideas and when she found my website, she was very impressed with the amount of information that I had given her. I asked if she had any quotations so far and she informed me that she had received two...One at £180.00 and another at £200.00. This is for a Disco from 7.30pm - Midnight at a local hotel. I said to her "I'm really sorry but before I go any further, I really don't want to waste your time but I wouldn't be able to compete with those prices at all"...She asked a few questions, we had a good chat and I ended up getting the job for my usual fee. I am not a salesman at all but she was interested in some Karaoke aswell so I said I would add Karaoke free of charge and she thought that it was a good deal. She asked if it would be ok to transfer the money into my account straight away so that it was all paid up in advance and that was it. Booking forms have been sent today and the money is there already. By the way, I did ask her the question "Why did you decide to go ahead and book me even though I am more expensive than the other two?" - Her reply was "Because you have come across as a professional, been helpful and I would rather pay the extra and have something special rather than cheap and cheerful"..that was enough for me.
The other enquiry that came through this morning was along the same lines but was a phonecall. It was another lady and this time she was enquiring about a 50th birthday party in August with a 60s, 70s, 80s theme. We were on the phone for just under 90 minutes believe it or not and she came across very pleasant. She was very impressed with the website again and she said that last night she was looking around at websites and local suppliers and when she came across mine she was there for ages looking at all of the information. I asked the usual questions and also if she had been calling around for quotations, she said "That was my intention yes but now I've found you I think I want you to do my party"...I did encourage her to call around still just so that she could have piece of mind as to what I was telling her was correct and to see how other suppliers were. She said she'd do that...whether she did or not is another thing but she said she'd have a word with her husband after I quoted her a price and then get back to me. 10 minutes later she called back and confirmed and also said that she would like Uplighting too. Booking forms are done and now in the post to her.
Now, these two bookings were sold on the information I gave out over the phone but initially from my website. I'll be totally honest with you...I do my website myself. I know the basics (I learnt in a few days) but to my eyes it's ok. I have seen some of your websites and they blow mine away and if I had funds available I would like mine to look a lot more professional. When I get time I will learn more about it and maybe get it looking more professional myself. I am quite pleased with myself that people are commenting on it and praising it. I think there is a tad too much information on there as I personally think that people look for a few details, some customer feedback and then contact details...so I may cut it down a bit. The website is important. It sells the business to the customer and it's obviously working.
Just wanted to share that with you.
Cheers
