I am looking a getting a new mic, i've seen the Shure PG58 I think it's called and a few others like Senseiser etc.

These are designed for singers etc, so are they ideal as the main DJ mic, or perhaps too heavy?

If money was no object (within reason) which would you go for?

Can you reccomend any?

For the money, the PG58 is very good. The question remains though Max, why would you want a mic for home DJing?

I have them at the moment, part of the kit in my opinion. Useful also if I ever go into a Club etc

Yeah, I really don't understand it. Maybe you just like starting threads, even if you have no intention of buying it?

I think that the DJ might get the hump though Max if you turn up with a Mic???

Yeah, I really don't understand it. Maybe you just like starting threads, even if you have no intention of buying it?

I firstly used a Philips Microphone, then used the plastic ones, then a Skytronic - and it's XLR cable is faulty.

I am aiming to buy a decent mic and headphones, but would like to know a few decent models etc, hence the question starting the 'thread'.

If you went to a club surely there would have a mic :)

I think the point 'visual dj max' was making, is djmaxg is unlikley to be invited to play in a club anytime soon :D

I, personally, cant get away with the Shure range, they make me sound terrible for some reason (i must have a dodgy voice). Ive opted for the Sennheiser range. I have the E935 (http://www.andertons.co.uk/LiveMicrophones/pid11723/cid620/SennheiserE935DynamicMicrophone.asp?utm_source=goo glebase&utm_medium=pricecomp&utm_campaign=GoogleShopping )as my main cabled mic, and a couple of E815's (http://www.ukdj.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=19266 )as spares.

If it's Shure PG58's well regarded, SM58's better.
Sennheiser, from say 825 upwards are very good.

You tend to get left with an XLR lead hanging over the end of the rack... It's up to the DJ to plug something on to it if they want to say anything ;)

Thats if your blooming luck in my experience (and generally only if the mic port is in the back of the mixer, like in denons). usually i have to take the lead too.

In the clubs I work in there are radio mics provided in there for stage use ect but I always take my own leaded SM58 as I am very funny when it comes to using a mic after another DJ as you don't know what germs they have ect.

I use either the Shure Wireless Beta 58a or the SM58 wired.

there seems to be a big difference in clubs in our local areas :confused:

It's still a toss up between the SM58 and PG58
