i saw some pics from someones show about a week ago on here and they were using truss virtically. as truss is expensive would this work http://www.terralec.co.uk/steel_deco-truss/decotruss_crossbeam_1000mm_black/25131_p.html
mounting an led moving head on top ( very lite ) and maybe a 19" monitor on the side it would be bolted to a plate on the floor.
does anyone know how much weight the deco truss would hold

Used in compression, the truss would support an enormous load, way above a moving head and a 19" screen. You would need to ensure the base was large enough to not tip over if it was bumped into.

Don't forget that with a moving head, the weight is shifting round and trying to tip the truss, so a much larger base plate would be needed than if it had a static load. I'd go so far as to say a weighted base may be needed.
I'm no expert so please don't take my advice:eek:
Putting dynamic loads aloft a vertical structure is potentially very dangerous, and I wouldn't consider it unless I was 100% confident it could not fall and kill someone.
Buying something actually designed for the job would be preferable IMHO.
