Max, it doesn't "fold up"

It comes as 6 pieces ie: 2 ends (the sides) , 2 centre pieces (that connect the sides) and 2 winch pods.

They're secured with large 10mm knobby / screw jobs :D

You can't fold it down, it believe it comes as:

2 x End pieces
4 x Cross Bars (For the base)
2 x Winch Uprights
1 x Lighting Bar

EDIT: Just Noticed that Post #3 has give you the answer

As others have mentioned, it's like any other stand in production!

From as assembled (I have exactly one of these):

1. Take lighting bar off the top of the winch stands - this comes apart in the middle by removing 2 pins secured by R-clips.

2. Unscrew 2 retaining screws at each end to remove winch poles from the brackets - once loose, slide poles up and out (note - you may have to lay the stand down sideways if you are in a venue with a low ceiling)

3. Unscrew 4 of the aforementioned large 10mm knobby / screw jobs from each end, pull the ends clear of the two cross pieces.

Done! :D

...and the in-use version from tonight's gig: (mine's a 6 footer)

1. Remove top bar...

2. ... Lay it down and slide out winch poles...

3. ... here it is fully disassembled (with optional carpetted shelves and front curtain kit) ...

4. ...and here it is in its bag, but not with winch poles and lighting bar - Once & Once Only I tried that and then tried to lift it; the major back pain incurred means the winch poles now stay out!

Cheers Daz. the only thing thats stopped me buying is that i didnt know that, and im apprehensive (think thats spelt correctrly?) about the gap between the starcloth and the floor with the wheels. :)

Yes, the winches are there for that purpose, it makes handling a lot easier.


I heard that Darren pushed the stand in (on many posts etc) as a trolley, and just thought it would take up the whole van space if fully errect.

No, it stays assembled in the van. I have a LWB Primastar and it fits in without a problem.

That's a result! I dont think that I could be bothered to pack them up and down everytime. What is the weight loading on it mate? I really need one for the deck of doom but would be slightly worried if it would hold it!!!!!!

Assembling / disassembling the stand is a 5 minute job from in the bag to fully up... less if you don't have the carpet shelves and front curtain kit!
