hi i have started karaoke and have chosen wired mics but only have one input on my mixer so was wondering if this would work ?

Or go for the same model as the one you linked too...only the mic mixer version: http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=19510 which is only £17.99 instead of the stereo mixer which is £24.99.

theyll work and do you a decent job. only thing i found with mine is levels 1-9 are useless - its basically 0 or 10! they do the job though.

just watch your mic inputs and outputs, as these are jacks, you may need adaptors if your are xlrs - which adds cost.

I would always go with a powered mixer (not as in powering speakers). The 9V Battery hmm ... may be okay.

No Chance! - I've got one, and sound is split between 3 ways, it doesn't sound very good atall. You will regret it.

This might be better if you can stretch to it. Will allow you to add effects to the vocals too, such as echo/delay, that way you can make bad singers sound, well, still bad to be honest but it smooths the edges a little.

That's way too over the top for a karaoke Peter!

Just buy a Numark 200FX which is a nice little mixer with simple but very usable effects from Alesis.

I didn't mean the price, more the functions on it. That Berry mixer I sold you is great, but a bit OTT when it come to using it for karaoke, in terms of effects etc

The Numark is reasonably priced, but works well and is simple.

That would do you fine for karaoke.I used an almost identical one (by Peavey) (http://www.thomann.de/gb/peavey_pv_6.htm) when I was a solo singer and although I didn't use the effects (I had a Boss SE50 for that) it did the job perfectly.

I'm not a big fan of the onboard effects on mixers - for some reason they just don't sound great but for karaoke punters a little bit of reverb should be fine.

The one linked to above isn't the exact one I used, not sure if they still make them (also the one above doesn't have effects)

Sorry, my earlier post was in error, it wasn't a Peavey I had, it was a Yamaha MG8/2FX (http://www.dolphinmusic.co.uk/product/15164-yamaha-mg8-2-fx.html) but sadly I was correct in that they are no longer available. You could possibly try Ebay, it was an excellent mixer and lasted me a good few years until I upgraded to a Mackie 16 channel mixer (now that WAS good) and being a passive desk it didn't overheat :p :sofa:
