Velcro Cable Ties - Where to buy?

Apologies if this has been done to death, but you can imagine how many results "Velcro cable Ties" returns in the search (about all the gallery threads....and then some) :)

Anyway, ive decided to stop paying through the nose for wire ties and invest in some cable ties, but wheres the cheapest place to purchase them?

Local shopping centre or market is the best place, sewing shops sell them for about 25p per metre. Then cut them to size as required.

NB Make sure you get the type that sticks to itself and not the one that is in two parts.

Im in Cumbria Simon.....we dont have a sewing shop for 30 miles (and im in one of the main towns). Our markeys are all fruit/veg/meat too.

I prefer black releasable cable ties over velcro for most jobs as it grips the bunch better.

And the fact that pulling velcro apart is my equivalent of fingernails down a blackboard..... eek!


Around £7-10 per 100 at 30cm length from several fleabay vendors. Allowing for the odd one going astray and the odd one going slack, I only get through about a bagfull each year. They're also very good (when snipped back to the right length) for 'wedging' uplighting cables hard up against skirting boards rather than using gaffa. ;)

I just this very morning ordered some velcro cable ties, a new black 4way and a replacement DMX lead from Terralec...should be delivered tomorrow.

Been wanting to tidy up the rig for ages and as I have it to myself this weekend, going to try and take a few post-able photos :o

Not at all fiddly. I have chunky fingers and get along fine with them.

If you use the ties at full length, you just make a loop and tuck the excess back in on itself.

As for the snipped ones, I tend to have a bunch cut at 1" and a bunch at 2" - seems to cope with most jobs.

Difficult to describe without pictures - will try to take some on Friday.

I use a cut up strip of velcro that's approx 1" wide.

I have recently started using reusable cable ties. The velcro ones I had I got from ASDA. They were only 97p for 10. They seem to have stopped selling them now and as they only lasted 3 years :D :D have moved onto cable ties. Bought a pack of 100 black reusable ties for about £3 off ebay.

I used to get them from a guy on Ebay, but he's stopped selling them. The ones I bought from him are still going strong 3 years down the line.

£1.25 a metre velcro at dunhelm mill if your strugglin to get any pm me and il post you some up mate its about 2" wide
