Thought I would have a good tidy up and get everything sorted.
Whilst I was in there I noticed that I still had 2 x Source Abyss lights. If you haven't seen these before, they are 250w lights that change colour slowly (really vibrant colours actually) and the effect is a kind of water effect. I remember buying these when I first started and they still look brand new. They were cheap and cheerful to start off with.
Anyway, I had an idea and I think I am going to try it on saturday and that it is to use them upright and against the wall behind me to create a kind of backdrop 'wavey' effect. Unfortunately they are not DMX and as I am sure someone will mention, they are CHEAP but the effect is great in my opinion. The only problem with these is that they get quite hot and if I remember rightly, they eat bulbs quickly. I don't plan to be using them that often though.
I also found a Source Samurai. This is quite a mad effect with good coverage. I got the smoke machine out and it looked awesome with it. I found a whole bunch of other lighting effects too and I will get back to them once I have more time.
I just thought I would mention it. To be honest, I am really impressed with the Source Abyss lights and I think that if they look good then I may start using them again. Has anyone else done this kind of thing and gone back to stuff that they used to use?
