Hi mate. Bulbs, Motors and general condition. When you go and look at them ask the seller to demo them on a manual test and then run them via a desk. You should then be able to see quick quickly if they are responding and if there are any errors it will come up on the LCD panel on the side of the light. If you are buying them cheaply enough you may want to get them serviced first! So that you know they are all in working order. If they have been looked after then they will run for years. Yes you can fit custom gobos in them. You can get them made from either DHA or Projected Image. Get them made in glass as they last longer than metal. Glass are more expensive though.

Also find out what enviroment they have been used in such as nightclubs or theatre work, Nightclubs they are constantly moving around at speeds but theatre work they are used for slow moving washes or fixed positions so there is no wear to the motor.

Whats the cost for servicing?

Really depends on where you go and what parts need replacing etc. Where abouts in the world are you?

Based in West Yorkshire?

Huddersfield?

Going to have a look round to see if there is any local engineers who could service them!

Is there anyone round West yorkshire who knows how to use daslight program?

you needs to check out lots really

servicing around 50-100 a unit

gobo motors do they rotate properly

prism motor is that functioning

Lamp hours how many hours have the current lamps done on average you get 1500 hours on a lamp depending on what type is fitted bear in mind a good quality lamp replacement is around £90 a lamp

you can demp these units fully on a manuel test and also if possible make sure the dmx comms function correctly.

these lights need a good lighting controller to run correctly bear this is mind when purchasing as you will need something like light jockey to run them with or a good dmx cont'

hope this helps
