Hi all,

Where do you put your Haze or Smoke Machine to get the best effect from it?
Generally, if I use a haze machine I will have it slightly to the side of me so the haze rises infront and across the lights. I have tried it behind me aswell but find it works best to the side. Anyone have any preferences?

With smoke..if possible (and room permitting), I will clamp it to the goalposts and use it there but most of the time I will just leave it on the floor and point it up towards the lights and give the odd burst of smoke here and there. Last night I did this but because it was such a muggy night, the smoke dispersed very quickly because the windows were open and I was right by one. I ended up turning it off and not using it after a while.

Would be good to hear what others think.
Cheers
G

its something I keep playing around with. I did start a thread about if anyone knows if theres one on the market with the adjustable angle at which it throws out smoke, but doesnt look like there is one.

I currently place it under one of the speaker tripods and point it towards the booth. This way by the time and distance the smoke has stopped kicking out it rises up to where my lights are but am sure theres a better way.

I tried that too but the thing is, you get your equipment covered in the residue/dust.

I put mine under the deckstand and it fires up. Granted you get gassed out for a few seconds, but its better you than the punters :)

I use the HP2s Hazer and i put it to the side of my deckstand between the end of the stand and one of the subs and turn it slightly to face the centre of the dancefloor so the haze goes up into my lights.

Have you seen this - unsure if this is what you mean.....

HTFR also do a funky little smoke m/c which does a vertical blast of smoke which is internally lit up. Am toying between the two.

I sometimes use a Rocket smoke machine (so called because of it's powerful throw, I presume!). It's usually on the floor / under the deck stand to it's slightly behind the lights. It throws smoke out which then rises up in front of the lights to give a decent effect.
