Hey,

Well I took the plunge and decided to buy the Martin Audio F15+ Speakers, and they arrived today :).

I have a Peavey PV1500 amp which used to use, and tried it out with the F15's today, but I'm wanting something with more power, as the output of the Peavey amp is only 2x300w RMS into 8 Ohms.

My problem is that on the spec sheet for the F15's it says recommended amp power should be 400-1200w into 4 Ohms, and the nominal impedance is 8 Ohm.

I've seen companies selling the F15+'s with the QSC RMX 2450 amp, which would give me 2x500w into 8 Ohm, but I'm wondering whether I'd need something more powerful.

Anyone got any ideas?

Cheers
Stu

Nice boxes, Stu

There's quite a few suitable amps that spring to mind from all the usual suspects, my choice in order of preference would be:

(1) LabGruppen FP2600 - 2 x 840w @ 4r
(2) QSC PLX3102 - 2 x 900w @ 4r
(3) Crown XTi2000 2 x 800w @ 4r

500w @ 8r doesn't give you much headroom, MA boxes do like to be driven hard. Whatever you do though, get rid of that lump of metal with P****y on the front - it's the weakest link in your signal chain.

Tee Hee! :D There might be another contender amp wise soon, not too heavy on the wallet, or the back. ;) ;)

Cheers for the advice Tony.

Would love to go with the QSC PLX3102 but its a little on the expensive side. I'm just wondering what other options there are around the £500-650ish price range, which is probably the most I can afford. The Crown XTi2000 is at a reasonable price, but appears to be only 2x475w into 4 Ohms, which is considerably less than what the Lab Gruppen and the QSC PLX3102 amps offer.

Hmmm. Decisions decisions. What about the Yamaha P7000s? WOuld that be any good?

Cheers

a sort of rip off of a Martin Audio F15, with a badge that looks like EV but is actually EY, terrible!

I use Yamaha P7000s with my Martin Audio rig, and they rock.. barely get hot, and sound is just as clear and defined as my old Powersoft amp which costs over £2k to buy new!

You can pick them up for £300-400 second hand.
