Well now that I've left the Army and will very shortly stop getting paid by them  "Spirits" is now my main source of income

Looking ahead to next year it's not looking too bad I've just hit double figures for confirmed bookings so am quite pleased :D

I know it's probably not as many as some but still it's glad to know that things are going in the right direction ;)

Rest of this year is looking ok aswell. Anyway just thought I'd say :D

Glad to hear that things are looking so good for next year, Paul.

You're way ahead of me, although I'm also looking very good for next year.

The wedding season doesn't really start until April & most of my bookings come in around 6-9 months in advance, so at this point in the year my diary for the following year is normally empty, but I already have 3 bookings, so I'm also a happy bunny!

:D

would do a bit of research before doing a large wedding fayre. We have a large fair up here and speaking to people who have exhibited there they all say it is swamped with national companies with very few enquiries resulting. May be different for you but worth checking out.

Just checked and have 18 bookings for next year, the same amount of bookings remaining for this year :(

About 40 dates booked so far but only a sprinkling of weddings & high-rollers.

Bit like Rob really - most wedding & events work comes about 6-9 months in advance.

Good luck with the full-time thing... I've been at it since December and so far I'm absolutely loving it. Bank manager isn't, but that situation's improving month on month :o :p

Thanks for the advice.

I am thinking of giving it a go! Will have to start a new thread to see how many people have done the one at the NEC and wether it paid off.

Got some catching up to do as only 5 for next year.

I am predicting that next year will be a good or bad one. It is only a gut feeling and need to research the market more.

Are you saying you think it will be anything but average?

I don't it will be an average. From the conversations I have had with people over last week, along with research I have already done; started to give me this gut feeling.

Quick (taking stab in dark here) but I think it may go like this in the West Midlands area

1. Cowboys will have more and more of the market share if people's budget keep reducing.

2. Mobile DJ/Disco who have a good repeating existing client base will have a good year or survive.

3. Residency/Contract will be more hard to come by as time goes on

4. Mobile DJ/Disco who do have bad year will try and hang on, but I reckon quite few will hang up their headphone for good.

(Apologies in advance for this next statement) The ones who be hanging up the headphones will be the ones who have been doing for quite sometime.

To make it this clear. What I have said is based on my own personal thoughts.

At 1.04 in the morning after managing a 10 hour intense major incident my brain was fried.

Solitaire: My research is not complete and I'll hopefully get some more done over the next 48 hours while back in Birmingham. At the moment I am working on projects aimed to develop and promote the business more; which includes a lot of research.

What I posted yesterday is my own personal gut feeling on the next 12 to 24 months within this industry.

But that isn't what you posted at all. You posted that
From the conversations I have had with people over last week, along with research I have already done

So which is it - personal gut feeling or results from research?

Update time.

I've taken two bookings in the last few hours, so I now have five bookings for next year, and they're all for the early & quiet part of the year between January & April...including 3 consecutive Saturdays in April.

This is five more bookings than I'd usually expect to have at this time of the year, so it looks like 2010 could be an absolute stonker!

I'm one happy bunny.

:D :D :D

Today has been unbelievable.

I got to my quiz where a couple of the regular team members are teachers at a local primary school.

I did a quiz for them at the school a couple of months back, and they said they wanted to book me to do another quiz the same time next year (May).

Therefore I now have 6 bookings for next year, which is 6 more than I'd expect at this time of year.

It's all gone loopy!
