http://www.freefaxtoemail.net/

They give you a fax number, and when the fax comes in, its forwarded to your allocated email address...and its free.

Too good to be true? - I cant find any catched if your just wanting the basic "Fax to Email" package.

It's not a bad sounding service.

My only concern is will people be happy to pay 10p per min to fax you? A normal landline fax number costs only a fraction of this per minute.

Edit:

I've had a look at the site and the registration process doesn't ask for any bank details so I thought I'd give it a go. I have a personal fax machine in the office but the ink cartridges are not cheap so this might save me a bit of money. Shame there's no facility for outgoing email to fax, though.

What they dont know........ :D - To be honest, i didnt know the cost of a fax. Anyway, 10p is still cheaper than the cheapest stamp :)

I've used FaxTastic for a number of years - a similar proposition.

Never been charged a penny :D

In these days of emails, email attachments, scanners etc I'm just wondering how many people have a fax machine?

I can only recall one occasion when someone wanted me to fax something to them, so I just got it done from a shop which offered this service.

Ive had a few folk ask if the can fax booking forms back. Mainly people who work in offices and have regular access. So i was looking for something that doesnt cost anything and can do the job :)

I've used one for years and have an integrated one now. Still comes in useful sometimes.

It's the "10p per MINUTE" thing I don't completely understand.

The only way I can imagine is that they charge for however long the sent fax is transmitting. ie for a 1-2 page fax it's be pennies (or just 10p if rounded up to nearest minute like the old mobile contracts used to do)

and, if someone's faxing pages and pages, well - a lot more.

I can't see most clients faxing more than 2-4 pages tho...seems good as another option.

Update. Registered with freefaxtoemail...as it was free and so far so good. Ive just tested it out with a page from work to the number (which is also given free) and it came through near instantly. Its attached to an email from the company as a .tif which you view as any other image.

Im impressed. :)
