New Drumming Video

Hi All,

Seeing as I got a nice response for you lot last time, thought you might be interested in seeing my lastest drum video.

This was from our leavers assembly (last day of last term of year 11 - year 5 for you old-timers :p ) and I played the AAF version of Smooth Criminal - next day, Michael Jackson is dead :eek:

Anyway, hope you enjoy it!

By just watching that video I see how different we both are. I can imagine you being very mature and sensible and quite a serious person. I'm completely the opposite (but I would rather be sensible)

Nice! Last time I seen someone play the drums was last Saturday and their drum kit managed to move around the stage and he was nothing compared to you! :D

Cheers Rob. I've been playing for 10 years, but only really properly for 7/8. I had lessons for 3 years, but have been self-taught really.

Thanks Darren :) I was in a band for about 4 years, and we went to Germany for 6 gigs and played at The Cavern, Liverpool. We split up when they went to uni, September just gone.

i can't remember seeing the first video you done ollie bt that was greta you looked so relaxed and at home,which makes it easy to watch and listen too. daz if you are going to upload yourself playing the spoons use the same track we could mix itin with ollies then we need a volenteer for some vocals next though:)

Can I just make a point.

You've just entertained the crowd by doing an awesome live performance. When you finish everyone is cheering but you dont really look up or make any gesture to them.

Personally if it was me I'd get up look around at the crowd and at least hold my hand up to thank them or even take it abit further and play up abit to get them even louder. Kidda like a showman. Other people might disargee?

Nah, I agree with you. I think it's all about entertaining and gearing up the crowd. Encouraging them at the end and getting them geared up to potentially shout "more" I personally think is important.

Not really, he cooly takes it all in his stride and exits stage left after a great performance. Rather than holding his hands in the air, taking a bow, what ever it is you think he should have done and maybe looking like a conceited idiot. It wasn't wembley ffs

Fair point, however whilst exiting stage to go and sit with my form - i did wave at the people, smile and had a joke with the people in the front row. It's just not in the video.

Maybe at a disco Charlie, but whilst trying to drum, it's not possible. In a band situation, yes - that's the other job of the vocalist/frontman. Also, I didn't want to make myself look like i thought i was great infront of everyone.

I have got an outside DJ set in a couple of weeks where I will be DJing my own tracks and adding percussion over the top using a Roland HPD15 Handsonic. Cant beat (no pun intended) a bit of live drumming over recorded music. Gives it a whole new dimension I think :)
