View Full Version : Essentials For New Years Eve
I've had my first enquiry for a New Years Eve party, never having DJ'd one of these before (this is my first year as a DJ) I'd appreciate any advice from people who have.
Are there any essentials that I need to have with me, other than the Big Ben chimes and Auld Lang Syne?
Thanks in advance

Wow, great advice.
JTRS: I've only done one before, but what we did is have a radio on standby, and when it got to midnight, we put it through our P.A for the 'live' chimes which the guests thought was very special. Just treat it like a normal gig, apart from the fact of the chimes and playing Auld Lang Syne. When i did it, we got a variety of requests from 80s, rock, chart etc.
I'm sure someone with more experience of N.Y.E gigs will be along shortly to help you out.

I streamed a radio station, from the internet, through my laptop and everyone was like Wooooow. If you have the facility to do it, do it! :D

OMG...we're talking about New years eve discos in July!
Music wise, it's no different to any other function, really. Lots of party stuff, lots of requests & probably lots of cheese!
The added advantage is that you get that special atmosphere on NYE & people are really up for it, so you shouldn't have to worry about an empty dance floor!
