Truss recommendation

Ok guys and gals, I am after a new look and I am looking at getting some truss with some winch stands.

Looking at hanging speakers (custom mid-top design, about 20kg a pair) plus led lights like movers, moonflowers, par cans etc. Total weight.....hmm 50-60kg at a maximum.

I have had a look but not sure where to start. That's where you lot come in.

Price wise, no idea. Been looking at the Ultimax Trusslite as well as other brands.

Spec time. Was looking at 3x 1m sections.

Why 3x 1m? Well I am planing to get a roof box so need to be around 1m so they will fit in as well as other stands in there also. Means more room in the car for more lights, speakers, backup gear etc.

Most gigs would only need a 2m setup but the extra 1m would be for larger shows where I have more space to setup.

I'd take a look at global truss from thoman.de, a bit heavier than trusslite but a lot cheaper and very strong

Just a thought mate...Truss in roof box or np...where the hell are you going to put the winch up stands i have 2 set and both are more awkward to get to gigs than the truss..

The stands I have been looking at are more like the speaker stand ones but with a winch attached to them. The roof box is actually quite big so I don't think I will have a problem there.

triangle for me! i have just bought 4 meters of the Mobiltech truss as max mentioned, its smaller but suits a disco set up well. im very pleased with it.

I think unless your doing quite a large gig the normal truss looks a bit industrial. Dont get me wrong tho, used well and it looks great! ;)

If you view it from the front, there's not a lot of difference to be honest. I like the triangle as it hides cables very easily.

Got a price from Opti Trilite as they seem to provide more information on everything. Price is not too bad plus they would need to make a custom bracket so I can attach the the truss to a winch stands. That's a good price also.

So far so good. :). Looks like I might go with them, mainly because I got a nice friendly email back in under 12 hours. :approve:

What winch stands do you have Tom? There are already solutions out there to do that. Powerdrive ref 69 being one solution depending on the size of the winches etc

I don't have any yet, just looking around at the moment really.

Having a bit of a rant and rave on another forum about flying some speakers. :bang:.
