I did a wedding last night at one of my new regular venues. They booked disco and uplighting and as we hadn't put the uplighting in that particular room before, I got a plan and asked if I (well one of my lads) could install the day before.

It was lucky we did, as it took over 2 hours to do and the wedding over ran by an hour! We put 8 cans in and they looked brilliant. The pictures are of just half the room - the other half was where we were set up.

For those interested, they are the Visio par 64 cans on Powerdrive ref 202 stands and using the Visio controller.

The gig went very well, apart from a slight 'glitch' at the beginning when one of the extension leads didn't work, so the EFX's didn't turn on and someone (mentioning no names, Lee...:sj:) unplugged the lead to the deck, so we had no music for a moment or so...

A wedding that over ran by an hour? I've not heard of that before! 6114

The uplighting looks great, Darren.

Pity you didn't also get some pics of the other end of the room where you were set up.

Glad you had a good one...apart from the early technical problem!

I think this should be in the Gallery section... :sj: :ner: :D

Looks nice Darren, i'd like to offer uplighting in the future :)

You're probably right...

I nearly added it on to Gary's Colourburst thread to give a comparison between the two.

The uplighting really does change the look of the room. It was set on Magenta for the first dance, then scrolling though the colours until we got to the lively section and then we put it on sound to light.

Looking good by the way, very vivid colours.

Hehe...

Funnily enough, we were waiting around for a while so sort of did one outside, but didn't have time to finish it or record anything else.

Looks a really nice effect there Darren, I sympathise with the sound/light issue you had momentarily , I once pulled the wrong plug when my starcluster 3D wasn't working. Trouble was I was half way through Darude's sandstorm at an 18th. I think you could imagine the reaction! :o :o :o

I like them Darren, they look really good. How much were they? Do you have a link to them?

EDIT - It's ok, just seen them. Pretty pricey aren't they.

i love the uplighting and always try to upsell it for weddings as it genuinely does improve ANY room 100%.

we're struggling a bit at the moment as its a fairly new technology but the more of the general public who see it, the more the public will want it.

ive sent to specialist wedding venues and only one out of ten has shown an interest (shows what the know) and the one that did loved it!

also, i use the blue you used on the first pic - its a really effective colour (i wouldnt have thought a blue could look so warm, but its great) and the pink/magenta too is perfect for weddings.

Looks really good. We have come along way since the Par 56 uplighters (which I still use I may add).

It looks tasteful still, If you used more cans the uplighting would be seamless (no gaps)

Maybe you should have MAX come along with your Darren and supervise your installations? You could do a gig log together:D You could be the Ant & Dec or the mobile DJ World! Now there's a thought??????;)

I think it looks good when it's seamless lighting but I also like it when it looks like there are columns of light.

That's the only thing that would worry me with the Colourbursts. When people book the uplighting they ask for specific colours and I don't know if the Colourbursts would give enough of a wash?

There are gaps in between cans, you've got a strip of light on the wall, then another strip further along, but gaps in between ... need more cans.

No, I don't need more cans. Where you pointed out I did need more cans was the bar, so we couldn't put any there.

The cans were placed 2-3 metres apart which creates enough of an effect and as someone has pointed out it was still light and the pictures were taken on a phone camera, so aren't outstanding quality.

Apart from that, you are dead correct...:bang:
