As fussy as I am, I really can't see the point of a bag for a deck stand. Is it not covered with a cloth, screen or some kind of frontage?

As fussy as I am, I really can't see the point of a bag for a deck stand. Is it not covered with a cloth, screen or some kind of frontage?

For those older and slower members, what I meant was, even if it gets scratched, it is behind a cloth etc.

I had one of those exact same types, not from that seller but it was the same bag.....lasted about 3 gigs then I went and bought the Ultimax gigbag.

2yrs on it's still going fine ;)

Ooooh, Miaaaoooow! :eek: :eek: I think the idea is twofold , my younger and sharper friend. Firstly, to stop it travelling all over your vehicle and getting lost/damaging other kit, and secondly to make it easier to carry and again stop bits getting lost.

Th thumbscrews go back on the ends so they won't get lost and why would a set of 4 bars be 'travelling' all over your vehicle? :confused:

Reusable cable ties are your friend for not losing anything and keeping all bits in one place. ;)

I bought the ultimax one for 50 notes and it's just sat there, never used it. I got carried away. £30 plus p&p? lol

I must confess that I bought one too.

It was too heavy and a pain trying to get everything in there and for what The pieces still clanged together getting dented and scratches and it just took more time putting the bits away.

To be honest mine stays in the back of the van now fully assembled anyway, but yeah pain to get in the bag and a horror to carry around. Waste of money.

I bought one of these bags from eBay along with my Deck Stand and it's alright, but it's not fantastic. It's the bog standard Giraffe style carry bag.

Good points:
1. Only takes one trip to/from the venue to your car to carry the complete stand (bear in mind the Giraffe stands have four horizontal bars to join the two ends together, not two rectangular frames, so there are more bits to get your hands round/drop)
2. It does do a reasonable job of protecting the stand.

Bad points:
1. It's a pretty tight fit so you will spend a little time getting the bits in and out every time. My personal opinion is that this is worth it because it reduces the walking time to/from the car/van/trailer (for those of us who always seem to get the gigs with little to no set up time and don't have roadies to help carry stuff...).
2. You will NOT get an Ultimax stand in one.
3. With the complete stand in, it's heavy. It's managable, but it's definitely on the limits of what I'd try and carry.
3. It won't last that long - I've had mine for about 8 months now and it's been out on average about once a week and it's just starting to rip near the top.

Personally, I'd spend the extra £20 on a better one (as I'm going to have to go and do now) - these ones are really a false economy.

As are short bungee cords - a 20 second wrap-around holds the rectangular spacers together and another holds the side panels. Nice & snug, no clanging around, one trip to the van, sorted :)

The main reason is (as DJ Jules stated) is to minimise trips to the van > venue and to keep the bits together. I currently have a giraffe stand (courtesy of Crazy K & Peter) but soon will be the proud owner of a second hand ultimax (courtesy of John) :D :D :D

Not when you've butchered it to make

- a hanging bar for a pull-down rear-projection screen
- a hanging rail for a starcloth
- a mounting platform for a projector
- a stronger bracket for a particularly heavy laser

In fact, I've probably only got about 40% of it left :D

Hmm, I'd recommend sending it back if you can (on the basis that it's not up to the job). This is the state of mine now after just 8 months of relatively light use and it is now getting rapidly worse (I tried to get the stand back in the bag this evening and it just ripped further) :( :(

Well it's arrived and the giraffe stand fits perfectly, and enough room for all the poles and stuff. Time will tell I guess but it seems sturdy enough.

The one advertised is it not for the giraffe\prolight\kam stands.i dont think it will be of any good for the ultimax stand.

I also bought the ultimax carry bag,it was good for storing the stand and taking it in and out of gigs looks neater..................That was untill i bought a set of wheels for the ultimax deckstand.It now makes the bag very heavy to carry and the poles dont fit in the way i want now that they have wheels.

I much prefer leaving my ultimax deckdtand assembled now that i have the wheels on it.
