I can not believe it.
Ive had 3 cancellations for gigs on saturday nights in August. Theyve all stated personal circumstances, but ive a sneaking suspicion that theyve cancelled me and gone with a Sid.
After all, the NRBF and Sids wage would be alot less than my balance to be paid.
On the flip side, ive picked up two christenings where they have been let down by their original dj........
Not going to be earning what i was now. Isnt life flaming brilliant!

These were old contracts (from last year no less) when i didnt have cancellation terms other than "The Booking Fee is Non-Returnable". :(
This forum changed all that, now i have;
Full payment if cancelled within 14 days
Half payment if cancelled within 28 days
NRBF if cancelled earlier than 28 days.
No good for these bookings though :(

After a couple of cancellations my terms are now as below
91- 120 days - 50%
61 - 90 days - 60%
31 - 60 days - 75%
0 - 30 days - 100%
Not had to enforce them yet but they're there ;)

Looks like it's a good idea to cancel you 121 days before the function, then!

I've just had one go for 11th September. First they emailed cancelling the Karaoke option, and asked if making the start time half an hour later would affect the fee (no!) or if I could offer a special package as my intial email mentions this (to try and upsell other services), so gave them some quotes for added extras.
Next thing I know, they've got an ABBA tribute booked who also provide a disco..
Outside of the 30 days too, so just the booking fee to keep :(

Although I'm not doing many disco's due to my new work (shift patterns and overtime) would you mind if I used this?

will you be having a quiet ride around the chancelled venues on those saturdays to see what has taken your place?

Not you nicking my gigs is it Andy:whistle: :D ...on second thoughts its probably "He who shall not be named.......but builds electronics" :D
Seriously though, i doubt ill have a drive around. I wouldnt waste the petrol. :) I know two of them have been replaced by cheaper alternatives because ive had the venue managers on the phone asking why im not doing theirs any more (the benefits of having good relationships with venues).
If people have lost their job (which may have been the case), then you cant really blame them for going for an option that will be cheaper than paying my balance and taking the loss of the NRBF on the chin. Not good for me though :(

Don't know about this particular band, but that has been known to translate as " The roadie will put the latest Now album through the PA while we have a break" . :bang:

I've recently put my booking fee up to £100 because of this, but fortunately have not had any cancellations apart from one who seemed to book me on a whim and then cancelled 10 minutes later.
I can cope with that.

You certainly can, if you've had their NRBF electronically first. ;) :D :D

Well, I meant I can cope with people cancelling after 10 minutes- I'm not trying to tie people into something they dont want so I dont mind them cancelling before I have done all the paperwork.
