What do you guys use for your equipment

Now ive got all my new equipment i was looking at getting new stands.

I used to use a ultimax deck stand with the tbar joined to the stand at the top and a black silky cloth velcro`d to the front but wanted something a bit more pro looking.

My original idea was to get truss goalpost stand and then have my decks in a wheeled flight case but this is looking expensive and cant find a suitable wheeled case.Also i thought there might be too much "gap" between the ends of the goalpost stand and myself.

I need to do this as cheaply as possible and the cheapest stand ive seen is like the ultimax stand with the tbar joined to the stand for £75 new.

Has anyone got any ideas as this is the last thing i need to sort to get me on the road.

for the ultimate pro look you should look into the likes of a booth surround.... But you wont get it "cheaply" or near £75.00 - but then it is an investment in to the future and will last you many years...

The Ultimax stands are great, and more versitile than the goapost rig (and easier to put up)

As James said, the Booths look the dogs dangalies, but are expensive. If you were going to go for a booth in the future then the S&H one does not double up as an equipment stand, the Deckstand Booth pro does :)

Got a prolight stand in the end. Compacts up better than my old ultimax stand even if its slightly longer to setup.

Witha cloth around the front it looks to me like a booth.

Nah, I wouldn't recommend the Pro light stand....ultimax all the way. Slightly more expensive but well worth the investment.

In regards to a booth...spend the extra cash on something that will last you a long time and looks very professional.

i prefer to have lights and sound separate- the deckstand pro and ultimax have one big disadvantage in my view and that is that they need to go together.

the majority of venues I play in I have lights a few metres away from my sound equipment.
I bought a Giraffe rig which can be used as 2 Tbars or a goalpost, or a goalpost with 2 tbars. Then I use flightcase lids on smaller deckstands with black cloth covering everything up.

I am the opposite - as compact as possible. The main reason though is that most the rooms I play in are fairly small, and there is the problem of playing with a band as well.

Must admit though have seen one or two setups with DJ and lighting seperate and think it does look good and puts more emphasis on the lighting.

no really we were off to the left in a corner- the lights pointed out to the dancfloor.
people danced fairly close to the lights which if we had been in the centre or underneath them they would not have been able to do.

this is just one example- we've put the rig on a balcony before with the sound underneath it, other occasions in some places you want lights at each "end" of the dance floor- often when playing with bands and using some lighting for them.

Just find this more versatile than the all in one units I have seen- each to their own though.

No, but then they could have danced where you were set up. I don't really see the difference in this case.

we were in a corner- people danced in front of the rig.
if we went in the middle there would have been two much smaller spots each side which would have been a little strange.
