Stolen gear

Yesterday I had my loaded van nicked.
It was nicked just before 1pm in the afternoon from the Farnworth area of Bolton.
I would appreciate it if anybody from the NW would keep an eye out for it just incase it is knocking about.
It is a white 1999 Renault Trafic T1000 SWB. It has a private plate on it J11MBV.
Most of the kit is pretty standard stuff that most DJs use, however there are a few things that are pretty unusual :-
One of the lasers is a custom built RGB and is unique as I even made the case, the mixer is a VocoPro, I've never seen or heard anybody else using one of these. There is a Pangolin FB3 and a QM32, these things don't normally turn up anywhere as they are specialist pieces of hardware. A pair of SRM450's also went, although they are pretty common now, if they get offered cheap it may suggest they are stolen.

As a warning to other, think about what you do with your back up gear, I carry most of mine with me for obvious reasons of breakdown at a gig, it does leave you wide open when something like this happens though, because it leaves you without your back up.

It was me that has had it nicked.
It is insured so hopefully I won't end up losing everything.
Darren said he would post it up on here, I didn't want to just post it myself as I am not a big poster/ very active on this forum. I'm sure most of you know me from other forums though.
Any info or sighting etc would be really appreciated.

So sorry to hear about your predicament, Jim. I hope you have luck in recovering some of it.

How are you sorted for equipment for use at your upcoming gigs? Maybe there's some members on this and the various other forums that can help you out with equipment loans till your insurance pays out.

Fortunately my son is also a DJ and has a few quiet weeks in August so I can use his kit, it won't be available for the bank holiday weekend though, however, hopefully it will turn up before then (flying pigs spring to mind) or the insurance will be sorted out. I am covered for hiring kit until they settle too, a lot of DJ have made offers of help too.

I'm literally 500 yards from the M60/M61 and then only 15 minutes from the M6 so it could be virtually anywhere in the country within a few hours.
According to the police once the van reg has been listed as stolen all the ANPR cameras throughout the country will alert them if it is seen.
Hopefully I will have some sort of update tomorrow once the insurance company are open.

Although there is plenty of bitching and moaning on all forums, I know that we always pull together in times like this to help out our fellow DJ, regardless of area, forum and what we charge. The important thing is to make sure you can carry on trading and help out with gigs and equipment if need be.

keep a close eye on ebay also as if this was a opertunist theif taking the van he might pass the gear on and possibly end up on ebay.

Sorry to hear this Jim. What werethe circumstances of the theft. Was it from your house, garage, drive, petrol station? 1pm in the afternoon is broad daylight. Did anyone see anything? Was it locked, alarmed?

It was all locked up etc, nobody can see what is in the van (blacked out windows on the back doors and a bulkhead).
It was at the front of my house. It's amazing that nobody has seen anything as the neighbours had seen the van up until 12:45 and their kids were playing on the front from 1 and it had already gone.

I think it's worth investing in a discreet CCTV video camera on your house in future Jim IMO and maybe 1 in your van because if they just steel your goods and not your van, then you may have video evidense of them in action.

Sometimes rigs are sold as the complete package, everything.

Shocking though, It's not likely to be a DJ who has stolen it all, must be a car theif of some description.

Yes, pretty much all of it, which the police have.

Things like Behringer mixers, Datamoons, ImpossibLeds, trussing, speaker stands etc are in every second hand shop up and down the land, if I put a list up of all them I will have a hundred emails a day saying "I've seen a Datamoon in Cash Generator". The thing to watch out for is somebody probably in the NW trying to sell a lot of DJ gear, especially when they are not DJs, or specialist kit that they don't know what it is or how to operate it.
The police have said that they regular check with the second hand shops etc so if anything turns up in the chains (cash converter, cash generator etc) they will know.

It sounds silly, and if you've not already been told to, keep checking EBay for your gear!

My house was burgled 18 months ago, the police told me to check EBay for my gear and report anything I thought was mine to them. I was not to bid for it myself either, even though I would have been very tempted and insist that I'll collect it personally!

Went back to work at the youth centre this week and found out someone had broken in and they had stolen our amp, and a load of lights that had been donated :(

The good news though is the idiots who stole it all stood in some wet paint and they got caught doing another job so the police linked them to the people who nicked ours. Unfortunatly they had already sold the equipment and wouldn't say who to so we have had to claim of the insurance

We have a halloween disco coming up next which is normally a good one and is normally a full club last year we had about 100 to 150 kids :o
