Been reading a few threads tonight about networking between dj's and helping out other dj's, here my story from last weekend.
I was in tenerife last week for my stag with a few mates, we were flying home on the fiday evening and i had a gig on the saturday night which had been booked for ages.
Turned up at the airport and our flight was delayed by 30mins, no biggie we thought, then it was delayed for another hour then another 2 by this time it was 11pm we were then told that the plane was grounded and we were getting put up in a hotel:( I knew then that it was going to get a bit tight for the next day unless we got away first thing, a few phone calls home to claire to explain the situation, she was going to start phoning around first thing saturday morning to see if she could get anyone to cover for me just in case.
In the morning claire phoned Gary at Soundmaster Discos and explained what was going on, gary said not to worry and started to phone about himself to get someone to cover the gig, all credit to gary he came up trumps as he eventually got someone to cover the gig and they handled it superbly.
I was delayed again on the saturday and never got back home till 9.15pm far to late to do the gig.
Big massive thanks to Gary for helping claire find cover for me it was so much appreciated and it just goes to show that networking with other local dj's is a good thing as you never know when you are going to get caught out.
