hi just looking into upgrading some gear and this is what am thinking of getting.

any suggestions or advice would be great.

Behringer DDM4000 or MR195988 - UREI 1605

Numark DDS80 or the D2

and i need an amp to power my peavey st-15s (any suggestions)

Forget the Behringer Mixer. I dont know anyone whos bought a Behringer mixer and been happy/kept it, and the Urei has 3 more chanels so is more versatile too. Just look at the price difference between the two....

Cant really comment on the amp requirement or Numark DDs80 or D2 :)

Twinspin and I have the unpowered and powered versions respectively of the 16channel jobby. Excellent. :D However, I believe the DJ mixers are something of way less quality. :(

had he been wanting a FOH mixer them my answer would have been very different ;) Like you say, they make their dj mixers to a different quality standard for some reason :confused:

As for "is it any good?" It may be the best think since sliced bread, but their past attempts makes me doubt it :)

If we had more idea of what you're aiming to do we could probably help more.

Edit: I've just looked at the Berry specs, and it's designed for a totally different job entirely from the Urei. That's why I said we need some pointers as to intended use/methods.

ok sorry i intend to use one set across the board. for the video disco setup, karaoke, and discos. i run my system through a computer in a 4u rack case.
which i am unsure weather to keep or buy one of the ones mentioned.

i have inherited some money so would like to get my setup the best it can be and be a long term investment.

Well first of all...dont bother with the CV2 level equipment if your wanting to invest in the best you possibly can ;)

Whats the minimum number of channels your going to require (if your running everthing you want)?

Seriously pricey, but Adam F will tell you whether it's what you need.

PA, well if you do a lot of karaoke, the perceived wisdom is 12" tops and subs. If you go passive, an active crossover is essential.

This is by no means set in stone, I'd hope others add their two pennorth on this. All thoughts/comments/constructive criticism welcomed.

Yes. Sorry for having a blinkered view, but I'd set off in one direction. :o :o


If you get a mixer like the Denon, and you don't do karaoke every gig, then with a mixer like this ( there are quite a few in the range. Must have suffix FX. )

simply feed the Denon or whatever into the tape input on this, and all the karaoke mics can have whatever effects you want put on them. That's what I do.

They stopped making the D2 about a year back, but you might find a second hand one at a decent price, although why any D2 user would want to sell it is completely beyond me. I've been using one since last summer & love it.

Alternatively, if you're not bothered about the cd drawer or built in hard drive & want to save some money, rather than forking out for the DDS80 why not just go for the DDS? I believe it's just over £400.

This is just the header unit which is basically a D2 but with a colour screen which is much sharper & therefore holds an extra couple of lines of information.

I have the numark dds 80 and have no problems with it.for the money its good value,with all the usb inputs plus the dvd\cd drawer.colour screen ,easy to use.
