Hi all,
I want to create a 'Client Log In' area on my website and just can't do it.
I have tried to make a page where the client logs in and then gets taken to a page where they can select their event from a list, but I just can't make it work.
Does any of you have any suggestions?
Thanks,
Scott.

Surely http://www.webeden.co.uk/support.htm would be a good place to start?

Appreciate that, but is it likely something that's going to be actively used? If not, surely you could put your time to better use even if just hoovering your starcloth or something :o :D

It was mentioned to be me by a client at the weekend as he builds websites for a living and he was saying that one DJ site he looked at had one and he said that his wife (more than him) liked the idea of submitting their music requests electronically rather than on paper.
Which got me thinking, if I made a client only area, they could leave their music requests, and any other info I should know, in there and they could also get their guests to submit requests too.
........incase you were wondering, he booked me because he said my website looked more professional than some of the others he looked at and he said my e-mail responses were quick and again professional :D - which I was very happy to hear.

Shaun (EliteDJ) has a client area with the kind of features you've mentioned (and more). I don't know how much use it actually gets, he'd be the best person to ask if you want to know if it's worth the effort or not.

My client area and online request forms are submitted by over 90% of clients. It's definitely been a worthwhile addition to my website.

I dont offer a complete night of Disco but from my more recent experience and some posts on here are you sure you want the guests requests direct?
I funnel mine through the clients in case theres anything totally out of context thats going to clear the floor and or start an argument with people who say why arent you playing King Crimson that was requested:eek:
You need to monitor these things if its a Wedding or Private Party.
I ask for an emailed list from the clients and that works ok.
I appreciate integrated on the site may appear more user friendly.
The site looks user friendly generally but looking at all your lights and equipment you wont be getting out of the Castle Tamworth in 35-40 minutes---unless you have two roadies of course

Cheers Alan! :D
I have 1 Roadie and me. Most of the pictures need updating as only the one on the left of the home page is current
I was going to suggest to the clients, that they could allow the guests to submit requests themselves so I would have a good, general knowledge of what people want.

A client login is useful if you have corporate clients that use you all the time.
For one-off clients then it seems like a bit too much work, really.
You could always give DJ Event Planner a try. This system adds the tools to your site that you're looking for. It's not free, though.

My clients do this, but there is an easier way than having a client area which they have to log into.
They send me their requests & other info electronically using something which I believe is called an email!

Yes Rob, I see your point. But, the client AND their guests (as long as the client agrees) will be able to access the client area and so they will be able to add in their requests too. If they need to add more, they can just log in and do it.

Just keeps thing simple.
Unless you have a high volume of customers what does having a sign in give you above just normal email function or submit forms on the main site?

It lets you access an area that other people can't.
I was thinking it would be better for the guests more than the clients as they could put their requests in there as well, so it would give me a better Idea of what music to play because generally the requests I get, are what the client wants. - but they don't always get people dancing!
