i have read all your thoughts on the pro v's diy site, and the conclusion i have come to is that diy is alright provided you can deliver a decent site. now the one we have is not the best, so that is going tobe the next investment.we have some ideas of what we want but need to get some more pictures ,what sort of price will we be looking at to get a few pages made up professionally.

Most of the companies that ive contacted in the past are running on a figure of £250 per day for the work...so it depends on how many days work there is :)

The last quote I got for a bespoke 12 page website was £800 + VAT.

Not always.

I think a site like mine is excellent value at £350.

im a graphic designer and im having a shopping checkout site designed for me as they can do a better job and do it much quicker.

Worth spending the money in my option. an excellent site will bring in far more money which makes the £400 cost seem irrelevant when you have twenty more bookings at £300!

You've got your web address link wrong.

I made my website all myself (except for the header and logo).

It was fairly easy to do, but some people don't like it because it's Flash based.

Oh, man, GET RID OF THE AFFILIATE LINKS :bang:

And here I was just thinking what a nice clean site yours was...

You're there to sell YOUR business, no-one else's. How much have you made from the affiliate links via your disco domain name? If it's anything at all I'll bet it's pence.

I've had about £80.00 off it. Although I was thinking of getting rid of it!

Oh come on... pull the other one :p Did you get a relative to buy a new kitchen or something? :D

Good lad ;)

Seriously, it's the equivalent of filling up your shop window with 50 pence a week adverts. Fine if you're a corner shop newsagents with nothing worth looking at in the window, but when your window is your main selling channel you really want it to be as big and uncluttered as possible.

My brother charges £30 per hour. The company who he does work for charges around £50 up to £80 per hour I think.

Depends where you go really.

How long's a piece of string?

It depends what you want from it: -

Number of pages?
Update yourself or not (CMS / Database driven)?
or maybe just a photo gallery to update yourself occasionally?
Client area?
...loads more

Believe it or not getting out of a client what they actually want from a site is not always easy, and once that's agreed on getting any content (text / images) from them once everything is agreed is another uphill struggle!

Although the average per hour (if you want to do it that way) is probably about £25.

P.S. Steve - I haven't forgot you, just clearing a backlog - expect a quote before the weekend!
