A bit of a pointless thread really, but ive came across lots of pictures of various Funktion-One soundsystems, with lovely price tags attached.

For those who've heard any of their set-ups, are they worth the cost?

HTFR have monitors in which are exxxxxxxpensive.

Theres a couple of systems on fleabay which aint cheap, fair few grand, so im only going on the basis "if their 100w passibe monitors are flogging for £450, their full system aint cheap!" :D

The Funktion One demo room at Plasa is always worth a visit. They're excellent sounding cabs.

Used the F 121 bins and a pair of the Res 4's a few times now, and they still blow me away with the sheer power and performance.
I've been told the big Void stuff is as good if not better too, so looking forward to hearing some of that stuff soon.

It depends on what you want really,

I'd say Tony's system is a milked down version of it, and now covered with coloured dots

You can get basic 15" style cabs with 2 X horns, I think.

But apparently they are used in the top Night Clubs etc

I really have no idea of the price, more expensive than Soundlabs though :D

Void is good. So is there anything in the pipeline for HTFR to be selling more Funktion One stuff then Adam........ (i know you wouldnt say even if there was, trade secrets and all that, but its worth a shot).

I would love a system like the one below! :D:D

I agree. Heard both FK1 and Void and I prefer Void.

Dancestack with Infrahorns is a great install product, but is not touring kit. F218 & more recently F221s under Res 4/5 are the standard FK1 touring package.

FK1 aren't the easiest boxes to set up there have been & will continue to be many instances of a bad engineer making a big pile of purple sound like poo - check the credentials of those claiming to be an "FK1 engineer", as there's a lot of exaggeration in this area - owning 4 or 6 Res tops and strapping them down over a big stack of Labs or Loonies does not make you an FK1 engineer, nor does it make the system an "FK1 rig", despite what the flyers may say.

As an install line into dance clubs, set up properly, FK1 get 10/10. For Marketing, it gets 20/10 - flyering "FK1 rig" pulls in punters with the same strength as PVD or Tiesto's names. "J series" on a flyer just wouldn't have the same effect (although I know which I prefer the sound of).

The other point worthy of discussion is image. Whilst purple, white & silver works in a high-tech club with intended industrial aesthetics, it's not what the corporate market want.

Coming back to rock & roll, for every tour using point source, there's another nine using line array. V-DOSC & Longbow are very established & respected, granted there's a couple of UK rental houses with a big FK1 inventory, which is great for festivals when the wind is blowing in the right direction and humidity isn't excessive  However the main point is the FK1 product is relatively niche market.
