I've got one of these not reading discs in the L/H drawer, does anyone know where I can get a new laser pickup from, or know anyone who repairs these?
Can they be adjusted?

May be worth checking the IC chip is tight in its holder as they have a habit of coming loose. Just pressing it back can fix this sometimes. that or a cotton bud with some lense cleaner is pretty easy to try first. The whole draw can be replaced as one unit bit like a cd rom drive in a pc. I bought a replacement for mine for about £80and it just screwed in and attached the ribbon cable to it.

Thanks, I've tried all the basics and come to the conclusion I also need a drawer unit, do you remember where you got one from? The only ones I can find on Google, are from America (part number 705-HDJ201-852, I think)

I replaced mine with a sony part but it was a while ago. I had it sent to me by my local dealer when I lived in portsmouth. But as james lake has some probably best just having those.
