Is your regular venue a happy place to work in?

My regular venue has always had a good atmosphere amongst the staff which rubs of onto the customers.The good thing about a "regular venue" is that you get to know the staff and they get to know you,well tonight there were different new faces covering for holidays but still i found the happy friendly atmosphere amongst them.

you normally see them joining in with the party dances behind the bar,i have to say i think i am fortunate to be working in this happy house because some other venues i do ,the staff are not so friendly and helpful.

My regular place for bookings is rubbish as its really small to set up in. Plus the move in is down this small flight of stairs and you have to park you car/ van on the corner of a one way street but the staff are really good and you can have a bit of a laugh with them. Its still a fab place to go but its closing down. :(

I don't have any venues I'd call regular.

There are some venues where I might work a couple of times a year, but that's not really enough to get to know the staff.

Yes, because I usually don't have to play all the crap that usually goes hand in hand with mobile DJs.

I know the staff & my (regular) crowd & even if there are no requests coming in (rarely) I can build a set up by knowing what people like.

Finally & probably mainly, it is a very happy place for me to work because it has a music policy of NO: R&B, House, Garage, Trance, Dance, Hip-Hop or similar genres, unless approved by me :sj: As a consequence, we don't get too many Chavs, & those that do venture in for whatever reason, don't tend to stay too long.

Not got a regular venue but I work at Athelhampton House about 10 times a year, It's a great venue with brilliant staff...very happy working there! :)

I agree most of the stuff covered by those genres does :sj:

The good thing is because I have ultimate control over what (if anything) from those genres gets played, I can sort the wheat from the chaff. There is a hell of a lot of wheat (good stuff) in those genres, but unfortunately it is by far outweighed by the chaff. I can play the good stuff once in a while & most of the punters there appreciate good music regardless of the genre (it's just that guitar based music seems to go down better there)

I have quite a few regular venues, all of which I enjoy working at and the staff seem to enjoy me and my company working there.

I always make time to chat and joke with people in venues. It makes a big difference IMO.

My regular venue is great. Not far from home, easy setup, laid back couple, free drinks (and food if I want it. Never do) Allowed to use smoke and they have generated me an awful lot of business. I'm also allowed to leave the gear over night...

My most common place of work is the bond's group down town, the staff are lovely and helpful. They give the working DJ free drinks during the night, a member of staff comes up and gives you antoher. They also join in with dancing across the dancefloor collecting glasses etc.

My regular Friday venue is a great place. Staff are always up for a dance, especially the party favourites. (Soft) drinks are brought over at regular intervals and the kitchen usually sends us a treat half-way through - a couple of bowls of chips, or some nachos & dips for example.

Haze/smoke is actively encouraged and they even went so far as to have all of their smoke detectors replaced with heat detectors.

Nothing too much trouble.

up until lat year never had any regualr venue(s) but now have 3 of them (altho the 3rd one starts in October)

Old nicks tavern (Horncastle) a small pub that holds around 100 people and I open it up and let everyone decide what they wanna hear so teh music generes go all over the place - great venue and staff always looked after often they provide me with free meals n drinks and im always made to feel welcome.

Ox Croft workingmens club (Stanfree nr chesterfild) - Rock nites sometimes with bands sometimes on my own - great venue staff really helpful n friendly and have now started to pick up bookings at that venue for NON rock music - so really happy altho ask me at 5am in teh morning when ive just got home and am unloading the van........

Tubes nightclub (Melton Mobray) just picked this one up for 8 plus bookings a year after being recommended to them. Went to see them last wednessday and spent nearly 5 hours chatting away with them - hope it works out for them and teh nice touch just gotta take me cds n cortex units :):) so looking forward to that :):)

You been in since the refurb ??? (altho the outside is still to be finnished) its my local a nice 70 odd mile round trip :):) they have finally got me to compare there big arvo event last sun of Aug for Wish Upon A Star :):)

I had a couple of regulars this weekend, Friday was a hotel I deal with directly, so always get offered buffet, never pay for drinks and usually get a room to change as well. I gather they do they same to other DJs i've had cover there aswell, so thats nice to know :)

Tonight was a venue I find myself at about 6-7 times a year, but always booked direct by the client. Get on with the staff well enough, but still get charged for drinks and never offered food :(
