Same build quality as the 800 too, but has a better sound quality, the Sound Ultramizer really makes it stand out from other mixers.

Yeah I noticed that, I will have to give one a demo as it could be a replacement for the Denon DNX500 :D

That's what I had before. It's a major upgrade. Only thing I don't like is it hasn't got a matrix, so if your constantly changin your inputs or working with other DJs plugging in it gets a bit annoying. BUT the built in sound card, sound ultramizer and full MIDI mapping more than make up for it.

If I do buy one then it will be only used for me anyway so probably 2 CDJS and then the Denon.

The last Pioneer mixer I owned was a DJM500 and it was by far the best Pioneer mixer I have ever used so we shall see if the DJM5000 lives upto the standard with the new sound ultramizer.

Looks flash! Assuming the build and sound quality are up to the standard you would expect from Pioneer, the main thing that caught my eye is the 'advanced talkover'. I've never been satisfied with the results of any mixer's talkover function, so I've always manually adjusted the volume for my announcements.

The mixer is 5U - although just 1U bigger than the 'standard' size, it might cause some DJs problems if it was intended as a straight replacement for their current mixer.

Price could change at the moment, it hasn't been set in stone. As soon as I have confirmation, I'll post here first. All I can say is it'll be between the DJM 700 & DJM 800 (which doesn't help much I'm afraid - sorry).

Denon have announced their new products for this show in America, and a 19" mobile mixer isn't one of them.

(Here's what Denon have announced - http://hotdjgear.com/dj-blog/2009/08/10/denon-launch-new-gear)

Nothing to say they won't launch something at BPM though. I know a few other manufactures are.

Adam,
Am I right in thinking it is a 19" Version of the DJM 800?

Sorry Max, missed your question.

Darren's right.

This is an advanced mobile DJ and installation mixer. The DJM 800 is targetted towards club DJs, with a very good effects section and colour effects.

This DJM 5000 has advanced talk over, and up to 3 mic channels with dedicated effect, especially for karaoke, hosts and MCs. As well as a 3 in, 1 out soundcard for software DJs. Plus a few other things too.

Thats the only thing missing in my book, and effects module. The 3000 does get some hammer at most 18th and 21st, and had the 5000 come equipped with the 800s effects module it would have been perfect. I dont fancy lugging an EFX1000 about :( :D

Its pretty much the same as the standard Pioneer EFX 1000 bracket, just a bit taller, to sit into the RoadReady case in the pics above, and sit over the mixer (well it'll sit over the DNHD 2500 thats normally at the top of my box).

Not got the EFX 1000 yet, it's coming though :D

The EFX is more versatile than the 800s effects. The fedback loop you can create is cool, as it's fully editable after you've recorded it. Meaning you can delete little bits out, or record more stuff over the top. Add to that the ability to layer the effects from the jog dial side too and you can get some pretty sweet sounds from it.
Does take some practicing though. You won't become the next James Zabelia or Rik Parkinson over night LoL

Oh, an if you are going to buy an SVM your going to need two EFXs and run them between the DVJ an the mixer as it hasn't got a send & return!

Pre Production model.

Had it for around 6 weeks. Still fine tuning, and tweaking here and there with the microphone effects.

The DJM 5000 has no effects section for standard audio, only microphone effects. So the two models are quite different.

Why would it be?

A trade price would not help anyone on here, as I doubt there is anyone on here, that would be able to get a Pioneer trade account. Sure you could go through a distributer like BatMink, but you'd be paying over the odds (still saving from RRP though).

Just to confirm, £789 is the street price for this mixer

Pioneer any day or perhaps OLD Formula Sounds.

 PM90 - nice. Also the CXM - similar modular chassis to the Formula Sound and pretty much the standard installation mixer into mainstream clubs throughout the late 90s/early 00s.

We have a CXM on our inventory, which still goes out on jobs - it's long been my "personal" favourite DJ mixer, lovely smooth 100mm Penny & Gilles faders and separate music/mics busses. DJs who've been on the circuit a few years always approve, however there is a growing school of newer "can't work anything except a Pioneer DJM"-type DJs, whom only seem able to operate the gain & EQ pots fully clockwise on the CXM, ignoring the chopfade section on the M2 master, with which one can be very creative.

Many many years ago, I had a Radio Shack mixer ( stop sniggering at the back there, or I shall have to remonstate with you. Severely. ) and it had a bus. I wish more DJ mixers had them, it allows addition/expansion so easily.

I love the cloud mixers and would choose one over a pioneer any day of the week, pioneers are full of toys, i use an svm on a weekly basis and i hate it. In my opnion its badly laid out, no mid control on the mic, far too sensitive on the main gains. Formula sound and Allen & Heath are awsome sound quality without the bells and whistles, pioneer have gone for the effects and boys toys but sadly lack in the sound quality.

Denon is a step down. No, I find that there is little to seperate Pioneer and Denon in terms of audio quality - but Denon mixers perform well even when pushed to maximum output, whereas you get a bit of distortion with Pioneer mixers.

You won't find many who place Pioneer on a par with A&H either - and to me, Pioneer are generally over-priced.

Not only are the products overpriced, but also the discount tier offered by the trade distributors is low, compared to other brands.

BUT they are in the enviable position of having monopolised their corner of the market, just like Technics did in the 80s & 90s - so as a sound provider one is forced to stock their products even if from a technical perspective there are better (and possibly cheaper) alternatives.

So true, Steve, so true.

I always route the DJ mixer through 2 channels of dbx 1066 with Peak Stop Plus set at 0db, so they can turn everything as clockwise as they want but it still doesn't get any louder. The D12s have their own gain reduction and overload protection circuitry too, but when babysitting it's fun to watch the comps hitting minus twelve :)

Ha, my local nightclub!

My mate is the one who filmed that, he's the resident in there on a Thursday.

It's not a Pioneer mixer in the booth. It's redlined because half the speakers don't work, and there's no monitor either, so the DJ can't guage what the audio is like without crankin everything up.

Sound in general in there is :Censored:
