80`s night attire

I have an 80`s night disco soon , music is no problem , but its a dress up in 80`s style as well , me included :D .
any fashion tips ?
I`me darned if I can remember what I was wearing in the 80`s.

For a man of your age :sj:, I'd suggest the Miami Vice look. Light blue jeans, white t-shirt under suit jacket and no socks.

I have an 80s night again on 29th August, it's the same lot that I have played for twice already this year so I know it will be good. Mine isn't fancy dress but the first one was and I just went in Doc Martens, Fred Perry, Braces and Jeans....same as the birthday boy.

I'm doing a disco for a 40th in January. There is a 70s theme, and they asked me if I'd dress up. I basically said no, and explained why and they were happy with that. I know them very well, anyway...so I knew it wouldn't be a problem.

I have attended an 80s night with me and the roadie dressed as Goose & Maverick. It cost a fortune, proper jump suits, authentic badges (in the correct place), aviator glasses, tags the lot. Looked really good. :D

I've been to a couple of fancy dress disco's and always take part if requested.
One was a 'Grease night' theme, so I dug out my old black leather jacket, jeans and white T-shirt, complete with gel & a kind of quiff (hair was too short for a 'proper' quiff).

The second one was a recent James Bond Theme, so I went in tux and bow tie, it got very warm so about halfway through the night the jacket and bow tie came off.

As for 80's theme, I would tend to go with what Darren said, jacket (complete with shoulder pads) over a T-shirt and faded or stonewashed straight leg jeans.You could go the whole hog and hire a costume from a fancy dress shop, I'm sure they'll give you help choosing something appropriate to the decade.

I've been known to do christmas parties dressed in the full Santa Claus outfit - white fluffy beard included. It gets very hot in there but I've yet to pass out!
