It is obvious, by the number of posts that I have read, that 'borrowing' photographs is a common thing with disco related content.

But, how would you respond or react if you received an email asking if the person could use Your content.

Would it be a straight no or what?

Would you perhaps expect a mention under the image?

If it was someone with a genuine need of them then I would consider it.

There would be a set of "rules" though:
1 - Short term use only, i,e, uplighting piccys for use until they get their own
2 - Images must only be used on the internet, that way they can be removed, and are not on printed material
3 - References and thanks must be given publicly with the image
4 - It must be someone I know, or who attempt to extract urine.

I'm not really sure how I'd react.

As far as I know, I've not had a problem with the pics on my site being nicked...only my contact form and terms & conditions!

In the case of the latter, if people have the courtesy to ask in advance I don't have a problem, but if they just cut & paste them I get seriously :Censored: off.

Well...if your contact form was exactly the same as mine, how could it not be copied?

Would you really try & convince me that despite the odds being millions to one against, it was complete coincidence that you'd happened to design your contact page exactly the same way as mine?

Depends what the content was.

If it was photos or promotional copy then no.

If someone wanted to know if they could use my T&Cs as a base for theirs then, so long as they asked first, I wouldn't have a problem with that. It's based on a generic service T&Cs doc anyway that I've modified to suit and available for download as a template from a rather famous software manufacturers site anyway.

How strange, when I was first considering uplighting a local DJ offered to let me use his pictures to get me started at a couple of weddings fairs. I also asked another DJ who replied 'no problem, thanks for asking'. I did inform clients at the fairs that they were not my own but they were the exact same par cans as mine etc so would produce the same results.

Guess it is a matter of trust.

The mad thing is you can get stock photos of just about anything for as little as around £1.50 so there's no real need for anyone to steal.

I'm currently designing a new site for a new project and the site will start with mostly stock images as my current camera isn't that good. But I'll be replacing them over time.

I would definately sit down and think about it.

If I was not so fond of them using My Images, then I may offer to take some pictures of my setup for them in particular, or perhaps photograph their own rig at request, free of charge obviously.

Most terms and conditions are pretty similar, but how you word them is up to you. I don't see how they can be copyrighted, but they probably can be in ways, you would certainly have to change the company name to your own etc.
