View Full Version : Best way to cook chicken???
I'm in a right pickle. Seems like I'm not that domesticated. :o
My parents have gone on holiday (no house party, lol), put out lots of lists but have not told me how to cook chicken.:(
The chicken is for my dog which he has with kibble.
I have had a quick look online and it seems to be whole chickens which take hours. I don't have hours. lol.
This is what I intend to cook.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. :o

You cook chicken for your dog??! I thought they can eat it raw??
Anyway, just stick it in the oven for 25-30 mins at 180-200 degrees - best to wrap it in tin foil to stop it drying out.

Or strip it off the bone (dogs shouldnt have chicken bones anyway) and shallow fry!

Dogs can, but I haven't started him on the Barf Diet. Still quite young in my opinion. Need to do a lot of reading about it. He won't eat his kibble dry so we use meat to encourage him. :)
Ahh ok. I think that's how my folks do it. Cheers.

Dogs can chew on raw chicken bones as its a lot stronger than when cooked. Well that's what I have been told by a dog owners club forum. lol.
Not sure about the shallow fry but thanks anyway. :)

So I spend good money on better quality dog food and I have to blow it with cheap take away food. No thanks. lol.:D

I'm serious. Anything meat wise I'm not 100%. Other than that, I'm ok with anything else. :)
Giving Deejay (yes, that's my dogs name, haha) better food seems to make him happier and not so moody and annoyed all the time, toilet time is better and also he is a lot calmer in the evenings.
Wet food passes straight through him which have a lot less nutrients in anyway.
I only buy James Wellbeloved kibble which is good dog food. None of this Pedigree, Uekanuba, Proplan. After doing a lot of research, they have a lot more :Censored: in that is not good for the dog. It's just cheap and cheerful dog food imo. My dog deserves better. :)

Tom, I wouldn't give the dog a chicken bone they can splinter the dogs stomach.

The bone only splinters when it becomes brittle after cooking it.
I don't give him bones anyway.:)

Cover the meat with another plate and put in microwave for 10 minutes - if meat falls off bone its cooked if not a few minutes longer.

I'd poach it in a liquor of half milk and half water. Keeps the chicken well moist. Is that good enough for your dog?

....and rub with garlic, season with sea salt and cracked black pepper and use a bay leaf in the poaching liquor. :sj:

De-bone it.....flatten it with a rolling pin and shove it under the grill.
Should only take 30 minutes top.
...add some roaties with some mint peas....
...Chicken with mint peas......DONE!

You're right, Tone, Tom did say he wanted something quick.
However, seeing as it's took you 6 days for your suggestion, the dogs probably starved to death by now and the RSPCA are on their way over!!!
