A wise man(Jamie actually) once told me never buy a single fixture cause you will always want a pair....single lights can only be used is a centre piece...

I have an older Pearl River light similar to a small version you get on movie premiers outside, except this has a mirror ball effect.
very effective on large halls etc and garunteed to hit the far away wall.
Weighs a ton though and very ocasionally used.:o

If your buying 15 year old lights then maybe but still some good cheap first hand lights in the market now particular LED. You can still get a acme stormbird which is abit "retro looking" however fills a room quite nicely and they are usually £90.

I would go no higher than £80 - £100 as for not much more you can get an equivelent modern barrel brand new. These old lights have good optics but getting parts for it would be a nightmare i would assume.

£80 - £100  they're only £160 brand new LINK (http://www.sound-light-company.co.uk/pearl-river-m-25.html) 'Pearl River' are a cheap chinese brand, if you need any spare part other than a bulb you'll struggle to find it. Personally I would be reluctant to pay the carriage if I was given the lamp for nothing.

As their pearl river section hasnt been upadated since 2003 and their main site not since January im not sure I would take those prices as gospel.
