Hey folks.

Just a quick question. I'm thinking about trying to mount some of my lighting effects (possibly scanners) on the horizontal part of my UltiMax 1.2m lighting rig.

Can someone tell me if its possible to mount lights on the tube part of the stand and if so can someone point me the way to which clamps i will need.

Thanks in advance:)

Yes it is possible use one of these

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/180-688-ULTIMAX-25mm-G-CLAMP-DISCO-KARAOKE-LIGHTING_W0QQitemZ290338286909QQcmdZViewItemQQptZL H_DefaultDomain_3?hash=item439982ad3d&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14

Just make sure you do them up tight as if you don't the light may slip down the pole. Nothing too heavy.

I've got plenty of these clamps but they won't fit around the tube parts that I'm talking about. Thinking of mounting a pair of Dynamo's on these upright poles so effects are not to heavy.

You could use one of these (http://www.ultimax1.com/product.asp?numRecordPosition=4&P_ID=395&strPageHistory=cat&strKeywords=&SearchFor=&PT_ID=136) then either mount your fixture directly to it, or attatch a clamp. Just means being creative I think.

I want to do the same thing and have just ordered 3 of these Manfrotto superclamps.

Don't forget to buy the attaching stud which is sold separately.

http://www.thomann.de/gb/manfrotto_264.htm

There is also a slightly cheaper Stairville version that comes complete with stud.

As per Adams email you need the 32mm open casting to do this. I have successfully mounted some 7kg LCD screen using these (combined with a VESA mounting which Andy Tain - Ultimax made for me).

On thing to bear in mind is if you are going to mount dynamos on there you wont be able to tilt them because the pole will be in the way! I did think about putting my EFX500s on there until i realised this.

I did the same thing - used open castings.

I do have four of these going begging though...new in box....

Designed to quickly mount a light effect to a lighting stand and allow the light to be rotated 360 degrees. This revolutionary design quickly converts this 2inch (52mm) clamp into 2 other sizes. Clamps the full diameter of the bar to stop slippage and leaves it in unmarked condition.

Features:

Quick rigging of lights
Can be rotated 360 degrees
Supplied with 1 inch (26mm) and 1 1/2 inch (39mm) converters
Each Supplied with a Mounting Bolt

If the winch and wheels stands uprights are 32mm, then yes, as I use a couple to put 2 led pinspots on.

It states that they have fittings for 1 inch, 1.5 inch and 2 inch. If they will fit 32mm poles I will give you a tenner for a couple of them delivered ;-)

Yes that's the one:o :D

Will these hold the weight of a Dynamo?

The poles are 32mm and that clamp is 25mm.

Sorry wasnt aware the bars were 32mm and not 25mm, most regular disco clamps will work if they fit round the bar. The kind I use on 50mm truss will also fit a 32mm bar so could be used easily enough.

Be very wary of the open cast clamp as they will slip down the bar (been there done that) you have to do them up so tight and even then if it does slip theres nothing to stop if.

The type above (in the link) wont slip because it would twist slightly on the bar first before any slipping and then the weight of the light would hold it in position.

I'm after a clamp that will fit around the bar holding up the lighting bar (the vertical bar which goes from the from to the lighting bar to the floor)

Yes it will I do the same thing every week and have hung lights as heavy as an abstract vr8, I wouldnt trust an open casting to do it.
