Sound - One Side Louder than the other?

On some gigs ive been noticing that on my pa one side is louder than the other swap the speakers round and that speaker is then louder and the other is lower.

Just recently ive just bought two sets of new cables and tryed them both and im still getting the same problem.

Obviously its not down to the speakers because ive tried both of them and the sound comes out a slight bit louder from one side.

my system is an active RCF system as you all know and my dj mixer is a denon x500. could it be my mixer or one of the rca cables from the sources into the mixer.

or could it be that im going deaf in one ear :D or could it be the actual mp3s.

can anyone give me some ideas. Its not unusable but its just driving me mad. Im going to get the gear out again tommorow and have a further look.

Im going to swap some rca cables tommorow and hook the behringer Xenyx mixer up as well to see if anything changes in the levels.

Funnily enough, I've experienced this very problem in the last 2 weeks. The only thing I'm doing differently is using MediaMonkey but I cannot find any L/R level settings to correct it within the program itself. A mixer L/R level tweak has balanced the volumes but I prefer to keep L/R on the channel the same.

So I'm interested in any possible suggestions here, also. After all, it might not be MM causing the problem.

I have this issue even tho ive swapped everthing and all dials are equal each side.

So its just mp3 then you reckon. I have a denon twin cd player as well. So i could load that with a cd and see what happens there.

I've checked all the system and soundcard settings and everything is as it should be. The same problem has happened on 2 different systems with the laptop and MM being the only common factor. Which leads to me to suspect MM.

Anyway, I don't wan't to hijack Twinspins thread but I thought the problems sounded very similar. So, anyone got any suggestions for Twinspin (which might also be useful for me!).

Twinspin, does your microphone put out a level signal? This would tell you if it was a sound system fault and help you narrow the cause down.

Put a different sound source through the mixer John. Maybe an ipod etc...

Then try changing the mixer

Then failing that change all the leads one by one

I posted roughly same problem as well and it was suggested that it may be a 'dry' solder in mixer as i tried replacing leads, change speakers, amps etc and all came back to the mixer....
Just needs the output from mixer re soldered but havent had time to get it done ... =[

I spoke to John, He is using brand new cables,

John also uses active speakers and they are fine as he has checked the seperate.

The balance dial is in the centre on the mixer.

And having the MP3 format compressed still wouldn't impliment on the balance of the recording.
