Last week I managed to tread on my plug that goes into the controller for my starcloth :eek: :(

I took it along to the local repair shop as it's quicker for them to do it rather than me burn holes in the dining room table with a soldering iron :D :D

Anyway he repaired but told me the fault was with the power supply and not the plug wiring. I find this slightly confusing as the box was working fine before I mullered the plug :D

I haven't had time over the weekend due to gigs friday saturday and I've got a wedding today at a local hotel to have a look at it properly.

Can any of our electrically minded friends let me know a way of testing the power box please.

It may seem a bit obvious, but was your repairer aware the control box would be turning the various lines on and off to sequence the LEDs, maybe he was expecting a steady output and there isn't a fault after all. I don't see how damaging a plug could cause a problem with the power supply unit, unless it was plugged into a live socket at the time.

It wasn't plugged in at the time.

Even I'd have a job squashing one of those boxes :D

Ok, had a bit of spare time as i'm all loaded ready to go to the wedding.

So I took the control box apart :eek:


There seems to be an internal fuse blown and typically not one I've got a spare for. It's a mini glass one so I can pick one up on the way from the car radio repair shop ;)


Edit time: All fixed was indeed the internal fuse ;)
