As for spending money on gear.......you pay your money and you take your chance.

That's what I think also.
So you create playlists on your laptop, and either upload them to the unit or have the laptop plugged in all the time for access to effects ect.
I dunno. We will have to wait and see what comes up but I think the price will be shocking. Bit like Denons new flagship mixer. Nice bit of kit but rather expensive.
I'll bet whatever it is, it isn't in 19" rack format ;-)

Pioneer are announcing it, not me, I was just bringing it to peoples attention, as alot of guys on here, who do use professional kit, and new "products" to make their playout run more smoothly and efficiently may be of interest.
Bit like Denons new flagship mixer. Nice bit of kit but rather expensive.
To be fair, for what your actually getting on the Denon DNX 1700, it's fairly well priced.
It's still not a mixer you can jump straight on and wow the crowds with though, due to Denon's logical system of having multiple button presses for functions, and their poorly designed new effects section (the dual layer overlayable effects are great, just not the controls for controlling the paramenters).
Im sure it'll be at bpm though so be good to have a butchers at whatever it is

Why did you decide to leave out the paragraph above which explained I was talking about the Denon DNX 1700S
All of the above is me talking about the poor layout controls of the Denon mixer.
In the promo videos it talks about preparing your 'mix' on your laptop at the airport, hotel, starbucks etc. So presumably we aren't just talking about a new deck here, it's more than that. The club has the decks, the DJ has the laptop. When the 2 get together the magic happens and the DJ can play his set but then chuck in other tunes via CD / Memory stick as required.
What all this entails I'm not sure. The DJ's choice of software is Ableton? in a lot of case which goes completely over my head, but it wouldn't surprise me if there was involvement from a well known 3rd party.

You do get a lot with the mixer. After watching many videos I would love to have a play. Maybe my comment will change about the price but as a mixer stands, I think it's quite expensive. :)
I don't even use the built in effects in my current mixer that much so I wont be rushing out to buy the new one and if I did, it would only be because of the looks. lol.

Firstly, would a state of the art player like that use folder search?? Tags are used for a reason on things like the Denon players, CDJ 400 & MEP 7000
Direction switch, on the CDJ 1000 its for forward and reverse. On this image its forward and BOTH

It's basically just people talking about something they know absolutely nothing about, so the whole thread is nothing more than guesswork about what this new Pioneer product might be...hardly the useful resource which I thought the forum was meant to be.

You'd be very wrong.
The same hype was created when the CDJ range launched, as it changed they way professional DJs worked. Much in the same way MIDI controllers changed the way laptop DJs worked.
If new technology makes our work easier as DJs/producers/remixers and live performers then I for one, am all for it, and some of the guys on here too will be able to see the full potential of what will be launched.
If your not caught up in new technology, then as you have said, there is no point in posting.
On this forum we have DJs who go from using turntables, iPods, laptops, MIDI controllers, DVS systems, media players, CDJs and DVJs, so interest in new kit is created. If there wasn't, there wouldn't be shows like BPM which lets you get hands on with all the latest offerings from manufactures World wide.

I think you're missing my point, which is that this thread has about 60 posts from people who are all talking about something they know absolutely nothing about!
The exception is yourself, who DOES know what the new product is...but is not allowed to talk about it!
Where's the logic that that?
Therefore, the whole thread is nothing more than people's guesses as to what the product might be, which is all pretty pointless really.
Surely it would have been better to avoid the hype and stick to the facts by posting a thread on the launch day with full details, spec & pics of whatever this new bit of kit it. That way, at least people would know what they were discussing & commenting on...which seems to make rather more sense!

I for one am excited about a new DJ product from Pioneer. No I don't know what it is, but from the hints I have a few ideas. Like anything from Pioneer this will be big bucks, but eventually the technology will filter down to lesser mortals like myself which I might be able to use as a mobile dj.

Funnily enough someone asked me yesterday how much it would cost to buy 40,000 odd songs on ITunes, and I said CDs are cheaper as you can pick them up to next to nothing from Tesco, some of the older albums we're talking £1, and £7 for '101 Hits' Sets - Where as ITunes will charge you 99p per track for the majority of them.
40,000 odd (and a bit more) ITunes Tracks - £3,000 +
and they're only 256kbps Files, so overpriced.

Hi Rocket,
I'm not planning on retiring in 7 years, that's just how long I expect to keep the van for. I'm actually planning on retiring from discos when I'm 50 (in three and a half years). However, I'll probably go on doing quiz nights for a few years after that, as they're so easy...although I might cut back to just a couple a week.
Apart from that, I want to have lots of nice holidays (both at home & abroad) to make up for all the ones I've missed out on over the last 9 years! If I'm only doing one or two quiz nights a week, it will be easy to get them covered when I'm away.

It's exciting times for DJs who use pro kit, produce or who DJ in clubs.
If this big launch was from Denon, Kool Sound, Kam or Numark, the same hype would be created.
Nearly every club you go into has CDJ 1000s. So when something that will replace these comes out, it is a big deal.

The Denon HS5500 currently has all the USB Reading, MIDI Controls, built in HDDs; and I bet Pioneer are building upon the same principal, or a MEP 7000 within a CDJ, which wouldn't be new technology.

You can't be surprised that people suspect there is something in this for you - you've put a fair bit of effort into promoting this new product, and this is exactly the kind of thing reps do.
Don't get me wrong, I am interested, if this is indeed a revolutionary product. However, the HD players were also revolutionary, and at the very least bridged the gap between CD decks and whatever comes along next.

I heard some of the worlds top DJ’s are already playing with this piece of kit in private.
I’m a little confused here as I heard the product was going to be called the CDJ 2,000 and not CDJ 1000 mrk4, anyway it doesn’t matter but I can’t wait to see its features and maybe when the sterling rates get better I may have to get myself a pair.
I give it to pioneer that they have only trusted the most trustable with their product as I can’t find anything other than the “get ready for this” videos and possible look alike pictures.

There are loads of DJs using domestic laptops in Mobile and Club Situations, otherwise why doesn't he get a PCDJ 00DJ or reliable Mac Book etc?
It seems to be a MEP 7000 in a CDJ, with CD Drive and possibly a HDD, but probably USB Ports too.

In fairness I don't think its the sort of product that most mainstream mobile jocks are going to have any interest in.
I would hazard a guess at it being a hard drive based CDJ with full midi functionality affording users tactile contol of programs such as Serato Itch and Traktor Pro.
Every piece of pro (club) dj orientated hardware which has been released in recent years has been inspired by Pioneer products. Many of the people I have spoken with just wish they could buy an original Pioneer quality midi controller rather than an expensive and not quite perfect, clone.
I certainly would love this sort of product but dread to think how much it might cost, especially since the Pioneer pro dj range has been slowly creeping back up in cost in recent months.

Let's be honest...my posts are no more pointless than anyone elses.
Where Pioneer have made their mark is in the CD turntable market, and their brand marketing.
Absolutely... putting them in the enviable position of being able to launch a new product which sound companies have no real option not to add to their inventory.
Irrespective of whether the product is any better than the nearest Denon equivalent, in fact how many people even know the model number of the flagship single players from Denon? Not many.
How many clients today spec a Denon whatever on their riders? Very few.
How many clients today spec CDJ1000 MkIIIs? Loads.
Are MKIIs an acceptable substitute for Mk IIIs today? That varies between "not really" and "definitely not"
It's not difficult to see where this is going in 3-6 months time. At the end of the day, the talent* calls the shots and us mortals must deliver the goods.
* note: word used very loosely in this context.

Where Pioneer have made their mark is in the CD turntable market
That is what I was talking about, every piece of CLUB dj technology i.e turntable emulators such as the EKS OTUS are based on the cdj's.
If it turns out that the new product fills what is an obvious gap in this market then they will be the new industry standard.
To claim that an all - in - one hardware unit capable of harnessing all of the current technologies cd / dvd / hd / midi / timecode control is NOT revolutionary is, to me, petulance of the highest order.
It should be noted that there are people who crossover from club to mobile and this type of product (if that's what it is!) would be extremely attractive to them.
Frankly I find it laughable that some people are so dismisiive of the Pioneer range. It reeks of soor plooms as far as I'm concerned.

To claim that an all - in - one hardware unit capable of harnessing all of the current technologies cd / dvd / hd / midi / timecode control is NOT revolutionary is, to me, petulance of the highest order. It might be a first, but how is it increasing your scope as a DJ? Is it because it will save you space, because you can now have one unit, in place of two or three?
Well, two points there. Firstly, space is of little to no concern to a club DJ, as the DJ booth is designed around the equipment installed in it. Secondly, tabletop players are generally inefficient for a mobile DJ to use anyway, and this product is almost certainly not aimed at that market.
So, on that basis, an all-in-one unit doesn't hold as much value as you might think - and definitely isn't revolutionary.
It should be noted that there are people who crossover from club to mobile and this type of product (if that's what it is!) would be extremely attractive to them.It may, but let's be honest - it would essentially be a toy/gimmick (for want of a better word) for a mobile DJ. If you're running a business, and you are evaluating your equipment expenses and the benefits it would return - it would bring back a very negative return!
Frankly I find it laughable that some people are so dismisiive of the Pioneer range. It reeks of soor plooms as far as I'm concerned. On the other hand, some people are what is known as 'fanboys' ;)
Integrated HDD within the CDJ's? (amongst other things)? You wouldn't use the CD player function though anymore though, would you? Or if you did, it would be hardly ever, so you may aswell just have a CDJ sitting out of the way or something.
If so, I hope all the 'big boy' DJs have got their produb sorted out. :ph34r:In the clubs? Haha, there is no chance!

The real 'big boys' mostly trade white labels and promo mixes with each other, they wouldn't need it. Also, unlike major recording artists they welcome the free promotion - a model which exists in the states just not here in Europe.
If your talking about the standard nightclub dj's then yes, I believe they should be hammered.
@Beerfunk i'm not disagreeing with what you say about the new product being gimmicky for mobile use but your dreaming if you think every dj booth is tailored for the modern dj's needs.
For example, have you ever tried to set up a stand alone midi controller, audio interface etc when there is five minutes of the last guys track left and you can't find any space on top of the existing cdj / 1210's / mixer set - up?
It aint easy or stress free.
IF and that's clearly a big if, the new product is capable of what i'm suggesting then it would become the new standard.
At a recent gig we lost support from a well known local dj / producer because we only had cdj 800's. He wouldn't play, full stop.
When we arrived I had to to the sound guy's foh job for him and two of us (me and the dj) were crammed into a booth which felt no bigger than your average phone box!
An all - in - one product would be fantastic for this type of situation and for people like me who would be able to use it in multiple applications.
There will never be a "one size fits all" solution its about what works for the individual. A product like this would work exceptionally well for for me and many others i'm sure, particularly those associated with electronic music.
I have browsed many mobile dj websites and a lot claim to offer the full "club experience", a product like the one i'm suggesting would surely appeal to those mobile dj's?
The inclusion of full midi control, the ability to assign full midi cc information accurately to software of choice combined with full playback functionality would, for me, be revolutionary.
As it stands there is no player out there that can do this which would even come close to matching the cdj's turntable emulation abilities.

I really hope Adam's going to BPM...just so I can get the REAL story behind this thread...because I know that's the only way I WILL get it!
I am indeed. I'm working for both days.
Adam started the thread to let everybody know about this new product now move on and embrace new products.
At least someone sees it for what it is!
Enlighten me, then...just what has he told us about this new product?
I haven't. I have not claimed I have. Pioneer are releasing previews of what is going to be the next big DJ player on the market. Full details won't be released until Thursday.
Why do you still believe there is some underlying reason as to why I've posted this? Your acting like someone that should be sitting in a padded room wearing a tin foil hat.
Within the last 6 weeks I've posted details on new products from Acme, ADJ & Denon. Why have you not accused me of posting them details for personal gain?
Just because Pioneer decide to make a big song & dance about this release, does not mean it has anything to do with me.
Apple do exactly the same for their latest releases. Perhaps if I'd posted the Apple teaser ads last week for the new iPod launch you would of been more interested, and not keep making underlying comments about me posting for different reasons.
There's a BIG new release from the guys at 00DJ coming out but should I post on it? Will you allow me to Rob, or will you accuse me of being on their payroll?
From now on, do you want me to clear it with you, if its OK for me to post on new DJ products? That way you can check what income & from where it is coming into my bank account, and you can then authorise or decline the post!
Posting on things that I'd gain from is against forum rules. I would of been banned by now, if any of the mods even thought I was getting paid to post this.
Darren is well aware of the situation, and knows full well I don't work for Pioneer, he came to the West Mids meet, held at my place of work, along with several others, and they'll all vouch it weren't Pioneers head office!

Because there's a big difference between posting details on new products from Acme, ADJ & Denon and NOT posting details of the new product from Pioneer, but merely adding to the hype!
Just because Pioneer decide to make a big song & dance about this release, does not mean it has anything to do with me.
But it's not just Pioneer who are making a big song & dance about this release.
I'm not too sure why you're picking on me really, because at least one other person has stated the same views as myself in this thread.

Adam,
You don't have to clear anything with me and can continue to post what you like. I in turn will continue to post my thoughts & opinions.
I just think this thread is strange. A few months back, when the anniversary of a certain licence was approaching, I started a thread to ask if anyone knew the details of the licence for the second year. My thread was swiftly closed, and the reason given was that the details weren't known yet & he didn't want the thread turning into a general discussion about the licence.
Unless I'm mistaken, the same applies to this thread. It's about something where the details aren't known yet, and yet the pointless discussion about what it might or might not be has been allowed to go on for over 150 posts...so I can't help but wonder why, especially as it was recently announced that a number of irrelevant threads & posts were to be removed in order to make the forum a more relevant & useful resource. Sorry if I'm being cynical, but it's just the way I am.

I think you're missing the point. The new CDJ from Pioneer is hugely anticipated, long awaited and revolutionary within the pro audio industry.
If Acne release version 4 of their flowery disco twiddler or whatever, who gives a :Censored: ? There's no comparison.

Tony,
For obvious reasons I won't be able to comment on your post until Thursday!

Rob, I take it that you are busy in general? It's obvious that you are not interested. So just leave it. You will feel a lot better for it. I bet you were the same when Technics released the 1200's back in the early 80's. If there had of been forums then you would have probably commented then that you didn't see what all the fuss was about!!!

With all due respect, I won't know whether I'm interested until Thursday, when I know what the product is & what it costs, so I'll tell you then.

As far as I recall, I wasn't.
I started mobiles in 1984, and it was probably a few years until I even HEARD of the 1200s or 1210s!

out of interest, what CD decks do you currently use, Rob?

None.
I went digital with a D2 last Summer and have an iDJ2 as back up.

Rumour has it, its not the only thing pioneer are launching on Thursday.
None.

OK, I've just googled them to see what you're talking about.
Make sure you're sitting down when you read the Pioneer announcement, Rob - let's just say for a SINGLE player you'll be talking circa FIVE times the price of those Numark twin players.

I know they will be expensive, although maybe not as expensive as you think when compared to the 5 figure sum I've spent on my business since early last year.

To be honest Rob, if you are only ever using the aforementioned Numark equipment yourself and it does everything you need, you don't have to fulfil riders, then spending 3-4k on new technology may not be a great idea, since it probably won't get you any more work and investing in it would tighten your cashflow and reduce your profit.

You're probably correct there, and I'll know for certain on Thursday.

Other companies simply launch a new product.
Every big DJ, gear head and club have been waiting for this release for about 2 years, and because of this, Pioneer are creating some hype, so what??
I'm not too sure why you're picking on me really, because at least one other person has stated the same views as myself in this thread.
I wouldn't say I'm picking on you Rob, and do apologise if you think that I am.
Your the only one accusing me of gaining financially from this post, which I am not.
Callum posted on another thread about the DJM 5000 about it, either in jest or not. Soon as I mentioned I haven't, and do get paid, he didn't mention it again, yet you constantly hint at it despite stating I DO NOT WORK FOR OR GET PAID BY PIONEER.

I assume you missed the following post from Callum, as you didn't answer his questions. I've highlighted what I see as the important bits.
As far as I'm concerned, this is more spam, and I can't understand why it's not in the chat section. If you have details or information, why don't you post them? If you can't post them for whatever reasons, why start a thread, which is basically 'I know a secret, but I'm not telling you!"
You can't be surprised that people suspect there is something in this for you - you've put a fair bit of effort into promoting this new product, and this is exactly the kind of thing reps do.

Please stop posting in this thread now. I know you will not have any interest in this product, especially the pricing, so it's better off to stop now.
All you are doing is making unwarranted comments to Adam F and arguing with others. Now please stop.

I can only post information thatis available to the general public. Legal documents have been signed.
Any other member of the forum could of come across this video and posted it, as happened with another forum that a few of the guys here frequent.

How much effort is it to post a video?
As I am interested in the industry and kit, I subscribe to a fair few Youtube channels. It pops up straight away when they launch a new video. Its hardly effort to post it here so others can see what it happening in the world of DJ'ing.
You'll all be glad to hear, the final video is here :D

I won't be around to post on it tomorrow when official details are released, as I'll be at the launch party
