Nope, they're not.

If your a Serato Scratch Live user, the DNHC 1000S is a great addition to your set-up, to stop you touching your laptop, to create loops, cues, select tracks etc.....

These two new Denon releases are only useful if you either already use Serato Scratch Live, or want to use Serato Itch.

I am not biased at all. If something was better, I'd say. I'm 100% independant in my own opinions and the advise I give out.

I personally can't see how a USB controller or a sub USB controller can be better than a dedicated "thing". Especially the DNHC 1000S as it's not a full controller, only a sub controller, meaning you've still got to use turntables, CDs or a native controller for your transport controls.
With the DNHC 5000 you use ITCH, which isn't comparable to the likes of VDJ, PCDJ, OTS AV etc.... So it's place in the mobile market is limited.

If Denon had produced stand alone players (like a new HD2500 which has been rumoured for the last year) or a hybrid of a DNHC 5500 and DNS 3700 then it may have been onto a winner this year.

The % of PC based to stand alone users is still fairly split, so to release 2 controllers only was a brave move as your instantly halving your targetted audience.

Grrr! - I didn't know I was That Predictable :D

But Yes, I did gather by that post that the Pioneer "thing" could be a dedicated item. I'd imagen that a few reckon (including myself) that it is a new version of the CDJ 1000.

I know that it is definately some kind of 'deck' because the information has been released to all Pioneer customers, and as a result is passed on.

I am thinking : Single deck, MIDI Controller, USB reading - and more

I do think that people who are PC Users will buy a Midi controller, rather than an 'all in one' like the MEP 7000. Native support, such as filename display is an added bonus, that I would certainly not refuse.

If you were a standalone person, you'd be using a MEP, D2, Cortex etc - and should any offer Midi as well, would be great for backup, but not totally essential.

Most Operators that I have seen are usually either one or the other, there's fewer that use all formats, as it's personal to the user, and we tend to familiarise ourself with our own decks.
