hey all im doing an 18th birthday party soon and i have never done one beofre, its taking place at a bar, i just want to advice, tips and tricks from you please.
need help with the type of music to play and best ways to set up in a bar.

Someone else has asked this recently. The consensus on music type was that you should ask your client what music they want (either ask them for a playlist, or grill them about the general type of music they and their friends like).

Likewise, it's probably worth going down to the bar (or calling) and asking them about how they usually set up DJ's and ask them if there's anything you need to know (do they have a volume limiter, can you use a smoke machine, is there somewhere specific they always put DJ's, are there any height restrictions, is there a set time you have to stop playing because of licensing restrictions, etc?) Usually bars are used to DJ's coming in, so they have a pretty good idea about where they think is best for you to go (and frequently you'll find that they'll have set the room out with this "space" in mind).

Naturally what you play on the night largely depends on how you feel at the time and what will work

barwise, go and check it out. Speak to the manager and find out where they want you. Immediately springing to mind is that a bar may have its own system and are expecting you to use theirs?

All of the above ,and if you're considering lasers, in a bar, also check for reflective surfaces that may cause beam bounce.

Yep it's not just the obvious things like mirrors and windows.....optic-mounted bottles, shelved glasses, polished tables & surfaces, metal fittings (especially stainless steel & gilt), picture frames etc. can all put your beams where you and your customers don't want them. ;)

Best advice get there early & experiment. :)

just all the up to date chart music, u can normally have great night @ an 18th dance floor will probably b full all night u'll have a good night let me know how it went, u can sometimes try the good ole party tunes, like the jive bunny, time warp conga ymca, whatever it will b ace.
