View Full Version : DB Tech Sub 15 issues

Hiya guys,

The problem - I was out on saturday night doing a wedding with my usual sound setup. X1 DB tech sub 15 with 2 GX450 active tops. Am running the main output from the mixer to the sub input, then the 2 crossover high outputs to each speaker. All of a suddden whilst playing background music at the start of the night the left hand side speaker stopped. Still had power to everything. Checked all cables etc. swapped over the speakers. changed the balance on the mixer and was getting very faint distorted music from the left hand speaker. Disconnected the sub and just ran with the GX450's and all was fine. Im guessing that the internal sub crossover is knackered? anyone else had similiar problems? any help much appreciated. Thanks.

Apologies if I'm teaching you to suck eggs, but you HAVE confirmed all of your connections are OK before jumping to the 'knackered xover' conclusion?

I had a very similar glitch not so long ago and found one of my XLRs not pushed fully home at the back of the mixer. It was only poking out by a couple of mm, just enough so that the latch hadn't quite gripped.

Yep, I have re set it up today at home just to make sure, and spent ages trying different things out, The xlr cables actually click into place on the back of the db tech subs so no problems with the connections. I have spoken with DB Technologies and it looks as if it's gonna have to go back. It's getting it there which is the problem! I was just basically wondering if anyone has had the same problem with this product? just so I can get an idea what it actually is.

Have you tried the crossover bypass output on the back? This is wired direct and bypasses the internal crossover completly. If it still doesnt work then the input connector may be defective or loose.

Probably not in this case, but I have some XLR plugs which will not latch in certain sockets. Change them for another cable, and hey ho, no probs.
