Mobile Disco's setup back garden ?

We have been getting bookings for people wanting discos in there back gardens but personaly to much of a risk with sound level... + other things

if you get a booking for these would you do it ? :confused:

Depends on your back garden. We can use 5k of gear in ours with no problem. :D :D To say we're not in a built up area would be an understatement. ;) :D

I have had problems with this though in urban settings, you'd be amazed how far sound travels in still air on a summer night.

I have a done a few garden party's, one being an 18th. Never had a problem and that included the sub being at clip point also. :eek:

I would say it depends on the music being played and how close other houses are as well as who lives local and all that.

Depends on the location and the sort of area it is. I have done some great gigs in peoples gardens before and some where the undersirables turn up late at night and cause trouble.
The problem is with those sorts of gigs, there is no regs and laws for drinking so people tend to be still at it at 5 in the morning and it all starts to get a bit rowdy :eek:

Best way we have approached outside events with close residence is asked the client to speak to surrounding neighbours via a letter to inform them of the party and there may be loud music, time of finish etc and then if some idiot calls the police etc your client has the letter to prove they were informed and spoken to about the event.

Covers your clients and your backs.... unless a neighbour has a real problem with it ofcourse...

Only if its a public party. If its private in someones garden then I wouldnt have thought so.

I done a marguee wedding at the beginning of August which was in the couples front garden. It went really well...and all the neighbours were guests too :)

I would not personally want to do Garden Partys outside, and possibly not inside houses either. (no wise cracks there!)

But nothing beats a large garden with lenghs of trussing, moving heads, LED Walls, and a 5K Sound System :p

I did a 21st at the beginning of 2008 for someone who had a real nice clearspan marquee from their back door to the bottom of their garden. I also had a rodeo bull as well working alongside me.

It was a good laugh. The neighbours didnt say nothing either

Agreed.

I would NEVER do a gig in someone's garden unless I was under some kind of cover.

The other main problem, as already mentioned is the sound level & therefore the risk of a knock on the door from the police. Not too much you can do about that, really...apart from keeping the volume at a sensible level.

For me, the third problem with these gigs is not knowing your finishing time in advance, and the strong chances of going on much later than you expect. I know that means more money, but there are other things to consider...such as you being completely knackered! I did one of these gigs a couple of weeks ago, and ended up playing until after 3am!

The foremost point, to be considered before even worrying about excessive SPLs upsetting the neighbours, is a safe power provision.

We have been debating the issues of slower disconnection times and touch voltages, created by exporting a DNO TN-C-S supply outside it's equipotential zone on the Blue Room forum recently.

The smaller events tend to be those that carry the most risk, as they are often put together on a shoestring budget by people with little or no electrical knowledge, whom believe that daisy chaining multiple diy store d0m3st1c extension reels is a satisfactory and safe solution... when it usually isn't.
