Another "Not many dancing thread."

Hi people hope you are all well.

This is another one of those threads about the lack of people dancing.
Last night i did a Golden anniversary, the client had sent out about 80 invites, but only 45-50 guests turned up.
I was told by the daughter of the Anniversary couple that they were not keen dancers :(
So played the usual background stuff as the guests arrived and during the hot buffet break, then after a couple of speaches i uped the tempo and played the stuff that works 8 out 10 time, but no takers, i played some requests and even the people that had asked for the request did not dance.
The most people that were on the dance floor at one time was 9 :eek: .
I spoke to the daughter of the couple ( she had done all the planning) and i said that it was very hard to get people up and dancing, but she said " dont worry about it and that i was doing a great job.
At the end of the night i got everyone ( that was still there ) to make a circle arround the Anniversary coulple ( you no, the usual thing ) and that worked well.
So as i am packing away and thinking to myself " i hope that the Anniversay couple didnt think that the Party had been a bit of a let down", when they walked over to thank me for a for a great job and the guy gave me a £20 tip.
So yet again as it shows that just beacause people are not dancing it does not mean that they not enjoying themselfs.:)

With that few number of people and the age of the couple this does not surprise me at all.

I did a wedding last night, simmiler story. Meant to be 100 there, was about 70. Had some dancers early on, but after the buffet very few seemed interested. Didnt matter what i played. I was also getting requests but again no one danced.

People started leaving at 11, by 12.30 i had 10 left. Played the last 30 mins to those 10 people, none of which danced, even to the slow songs at the end.

Hope tonights 40th is better.
