weird question, but I have just received a reply from a quote I sent, basically saying to contact them on such a mobile number as some part of the email was upsetting and i should ring them so i don't lose business.
I was just seeing if anyone (especially in the North West) has received anything similar, to see if it is a hoax or possible blackmail - in they might try to besmirch my company name (as suggested in the email)? As having rechecked a thousand times, it is just a normal quote reply.
If anyone has, whats the best way to deal with them? ignore, investigate, ring them?

Ignore it pal. Do you use a standard (ish) reply template? Have you had anyone else say the same thing?
If curiosity gets you, then ring their mobile number off a pay phone :)

yeh, its a standard template - cant understand it, i've emailed back to see what the problem is, but it wasnt a foreign email address or anything, so i'm curious - mind you, if it is a hoax etc - i suppose thats what they want...

If I was in this situation, I certainly wouldn't ring them as instructed. How do you know they haven't given you someone elses mobile number, maybe the number of one of their friends who they are winding up?
I would send a polite reply to their email to say I was sorry to hear that my email upset them, asking which part upset them & would inform them that I'd never had any complaints before etc etc.
