So......how much do you spend on lunch?

Sorry ....i'm after a bit of input and I know it's unrealated but i'm just after any input in lunch.

I know I spend £1....:eek: ....Houmas and Pitta bread.....from Tesco....Yummmy.

And yours...?

I make my own lunch, Cheese, ham and Spring Onion sandwich, Pork Pie, breadsticks with the cheese dip and sometimes a bag of crisps. Yummy!

I was about the same but at the co-op. Had a salad bowl with a 1ltr of Red Bull (copy stuff) and some chocolate.

Now I have a new job, I think I'm going to make a packed lunch, so looking around the £2-3 a day I hope. :P

I started a diet a couple of months ago, so weekdays it's only about £1 to £2 in Sainsburys.

Previously it was £5 to £10.

Difficult to put a figure on, as I work from home, but I'd guess at £1-2 per day depending what I eat.

Most days I tend not to eat much, so it might just be something-on-toast but now and then I'll stock up, especially if I have a gig in the evening so might knock up a small meal such as sweet & sour with rice, or a tuna pasta bake. If the bread's really fresh it might be fish finger butties :p

On Sunday in Cardiff, we tried to find somewhere to get a full English for lunch and couldn't! So we went to Greggs the bakers and I bought a chicken club sub for £2.15 and it was delicious. Very fresh bread, lots of filling and very tasty.

LMAO at these...along with Browns Baps (think someone on here came up with that)....:eek:

We/I/MD are thinking of branching out into the sandwich bar business with slightly more outlay and capital as the MD really want's to give up work and try something on her own with a friend. They have always wanted a sandwich/lunch bar and have been chelping on about this for years....so I told them why not give it a go.

With running the Discos and Pikeyville we have learnt there is more to life than working for someone else and money.....we like doing these, working for ourselves and lets face it....you are your own boss!

So i'm just trying to find out what people like and how much they spend. I know this is not going to give me the information but just looking at what people want/like for value for money on food.

yes I know it's about location and a very big risk can be attached but this is something we will look into really closely and weigh up the pro's and con's.

aim for an area with lots of students and make sure you have a grill with sausage/bacon/egg going.
there was a place in sheffield called scotts pantry that did this in sheffield and it was legendary and all the places around where i live are driven by students.

having said that you need to ensure there is enough business when students go home, but this can be done by employing students and then cutting back out of term time.

a friend of mine is thinking of doing the same at the moment- must be the time of year.

Lincoln is a Uni city so yes we have thought of this but thanks for the info.....:)

It also depends on parking and location as this is key....but parking in Lincoln and being in striking distance of the Uni could be a little hard to find....:(

From my perspective it's about location to where I am (eg home/office) rather than somewhere I would travel to.

I suppose there will always be an element of passing trade but I would consider one where you have your key market within walking distance.

I have to get in car and travel to get my lunch and a few people at work do this. Greggs was flavour of the month a while ago but then they they charged for parking a while back.....killed it off slightly for some people.

It is location agreed but need to weigh it all up and I believe we may have to give on a few points...:)

I would be more inclined to spend more if the food was filling, and good quality. Subways are expensive, but just about worth it in my opinion, and Baguette Express are excellent value. Greggs aren't expensive, but they definitely wouldn't be my first choice - although I'd pick them before a chippy or McDonalds!

A couple of packs of sarnies or a couple of microwave meals or maybe one of each (that was a good fiver just for starters). Then there was the dessert, some choccy bars, some fruit and a drink.

Fortunately those days are gone, just like my days of spending £12.50 a day on ciggys.

Yes I would, there is a small cafe/shop place in our Town centre that sell pork and stuffing rolls and they are absolutely gorgeous.

In our village, there's a shop does Bacon Baguettes for £2.50. One of them, a sweet and a coffee leaves change from £4. ( About 3p, I think. :D )

While I was eating my Dinner today ( Lunch to you lot :D :D ) some cheeky git rang up and asked if I wanted to subscribe to his " Sandwich of the Month Club" ? :confused: Flaming Yellowbellires. :mad:

I'd just got rid of him, when I noticed I'd missed a call from an unfamiliar number, so I rang it back. I thought the person who answered was somebody else. He thought I was somebody else, who he was looking for. I thought the preson he was looking for was somebody else. All this talk reminds me of my first time in Wakefield, about 15 years ago.

I wandered into a bakery looking for a sandwich at lunchtime, and without thinking asked for a 'ham barmcake' which was met with stunned silence. Then some woman shouts from the back of the shop 'he means teacake - I've heard of barm cakes on Corrie'.

I politely declined the teacake and asked for a bread roll instead.

Puzzled by this, the assistant insisted I wanted a teacake. I again refused, stating that teacakes have dried fruit in them. "No" she said, "that's a currant teacake".

Confusion over, she proceeded to the sandwich making area, turned round and called "marge or dripping?" :sick:
