The internet has been down since last night and even their website wasn't accessible this morning.

I've has to go onto my backup internet! :eek: :D

Yes, and it's a National problem hence my post to see if anyone else had problems.

I have backup internet, then a dongle, so back up back up and then access on my phone, so back up back up back up. :bag:

I'm on Virgin Media through a Fibre Optic cable and it's always going down, but it didn't yesterday.

It was really bad a few weeks ago as "They were upgrading our area to 50mb Broadband"

Maybe they have started to "Upgrade" in your area too???

When you live on the internet, you have a backup ;)

We had a long outage last Monday - about 6 hours - so it was out with the dongle. Failing that I also have tethering via my iPhone and even a 56K dialup modem tucked away with one of those 0845 numbers configured.

Oh, and a set of semaphore flags in the cupboard under the stairs.

So that's backup backup backup backup :D

Virgin's webmail is down as is the main site. The Bristol area also seems to be having issues with connectivity at the moment (I'm at work and can't reach my connection at home as of about 11:45 today).

I am in the Midlands and although my Internet is working, I can't receive E-Mails (Well I can, but my Grandad can't!)

The whole of Reading was out and most e mail nationally, mines back now but I must admit it's not been good recently, one of the reasons I changed from BT last year.
Also my Virgin phone is crap too I'm not happy with them at the moment :(

To be honest, I think this is the first time I've lost service on my cable phone in the 15 odd years that I've had it.

I've had problems with my internet though...usually once or twice a year.

..and I've had Virgin mobile for YEARS and always thought coverage was great with it. I can ofen get a call through when others can't :confused:

I had the same issue a few weeks ago and It was a major pain in the bum. I guess we forget how much we depend on things until they go down.

Virgin Media have recently upgraded my 2mb broadband to 10mb free of charge. I've noticed that in reality it's only just over 7mb, but I'm happy with that.

Back to my cable phone issue, it's still knackered. Having phoned them, I have to wait until Saturday lunchtime for an engineer to come out. Funnily enough, I'm not too bothered. It won't lose me any work, as virtually all my enquiries come via email, and if someone who knows me can't get through, they'll just call my mobile.

However, if I'd lost my cable TV or broadband, I'd be tearing my hair out for the next two days until it was fixed!

I dont think he means "wireless"- wifi is what I suspect he is referring to.
But anyway, it reminded me of my Gran too.
Not that she used the internet much.
