View Full Version : Pre-Mixed music
Does anybody use any pre-mixed music like the DMC Commercial collection for example?
I'm not really a big fan of these as I feel they are taking away what I am paid to do but was thinking about getting one to try out.
Views?

Only time that sort of thing has been used by Corabar is at a pub that we do a few gigs for. It's an Irish pub and has never really taken much notice of licencing hours.
If we're booked until, say, midnight, and the party is still going strong, Corabar staff have been known to 'meet up' after everyone has finished their gigs and join in FOH whilsdt leaving a pre-mixed CD on play..... but not during 'working hours'!

no but I use Numark Cue which has a set playlist of some "early evening" or "dinner background music" so I can put that on if requried. I dont like standing behind the booth stood up while everyone is eating.
Nah its a bit rubbish using premixed music because I always find that there is one or a few songs in the mix that will not go with the crowd. I do however use mega mixes.

Ill put the Mixmaster stuff on during the buffet but thats about it. Mixmaster Swing...Disco...or Motown are quite a good ones depending on the function.

I used to use a couple now and again to cover visits to the loo if there was a queue or if it was a bit of a distance from the function room

Actually...i forgot to mention. One of the first pubs/clubs (it was technically a pub...but with a 1200 capacity  ) had its own pizzaria...when it ied down a bit (to near empty, before the post midnight rush) me and the other dj (the more experienced one) would stick Grandmaster party on...and grab a pizza! :D
