'Outlook' Style Programs - Hotmail Now Supported

Windows Live Hotmail now supports 'Outlook' Style Programs, and yes that's without having to pay for POP3 access.

It is all Free, and those of you that use Windows Live Messenger (MSN Messenger) will have the option to install the new version of it when you upgrade your Messenger.

Once you configure your server settings etc (which are semi auto), it may take some time at first, especially if you store loads of email messages in sub folders, or you're one of those people that never deletes anything from your inbox.

Fingers crossed, all my saved items won't be downloaded to the 'C' Drive though, that's what it appears to be doing at the moment :eek:

It'll be great for those of you that view domain based email addresses in 'Outlook' style programs, as you'll be able to check personal email now at the same time without going onto Hotmail.

Not Direct access though, as remote access wasn't supported before, surprisingly enough.

Yes you have, I've had my current PC for about 6 years and I used to have Hotmail downloaded directly to Outlook.

I have tried to connect Hotmail to it before using 'Windows' Vista Version of it, not 'Outlook Express' within the last few weeks, and it would not work. :confused:

I could not find any server information provided by Hotmail, or when I tried to connect, it was not compatible.

That would be Windows Mail which is the same as Outlook Express.

as said, you have to PAY EXTRA per year for it - I was talking about Free external access.

Max is refering (I think) to the Hotmail 'Outlook Connector' which has been out for several months now. Don't think it works with anything other than Outlook, but I imagine there are similar things out there.
