hi all

has anybody got any contact info for soundlab who make dj equpment
i posted a few months ago i baught a sound lab light and i asked on heare if anybody has had problems with any of the sound lab lights the problem being it is smoking when i use it and i got a few replys back and i have took the advice you gave me but i have a gig in 2 weeks and i would like to use it with out the light smoking but at the moment i dont feel like its safe to use because its getting far too hot.is this normal?. as well i would like some advice fom soundlab and see if they suggest anything thanks

Which light is it ?

Whoops, just found your original post & it's a Venus.

It may be just burning off the newness, would be worthwhile checking you have the right lamp in it. Too high a wattage will cause excess heat and also overload the transformer which will smell of burning.

the bulb in the light came with the light its a small one with 2 prongs on the end of it like an led same size to but a light bulb i took it back to the shop on the day i baught it and the said it was just the bulb smoking and they left it on for a while in the shop but they couldent see no smoke when i got back home pluged it in and left for aabout 45 muints the smoke strted it is coming from the back of the unit and coming threw the airvents at the sides

Not good. If the light is a Venus, and the one I'm thinking of, it's a white Vasto. No fan,just a 50w bulb, and reflector with motor. Little fellas were bulletproof, think I only blew one bulb in about ten years!

If you're seeing that amount of smoke, something's wrong. If seller isn't amenable to offering money back or replacement, I fear it's time to buy something else.

But they will accept a 100w as it's the same fitting.
Many, many, moons (no pun) ago I inadvertently put the wrong one in something similar and experienced exactly the symptoms expressed by Bedrock.
