I have a feeling someone on here has provided the disco for the wrap parties for XFactor at Wembley Stadium- can you (or anyone else) offer any info about the rooms there- loading, parking etc etc?

I could, but in general I find that venues dont always say "its the worst place to unload in london" if that is the case.

It is Frankie, but it's at the studios, not Wembley Stadium.

I've worked the Arena & access there is pretty good, I'd Imagine with the stadium being purpose built for a number of different types of events access would also be good.

Surely the first thing Rich needs to do is to find out which room he's working in, as this may affect the access.

I work in a few local venues which have at least 10 function suites over 3 different floors...and they are nowhere NEAR the size of Wembley.

Because you suggested the stadium would be good for access, and I was making the point that in view of it's size & the number of function rooms it probably has in different parts of the building, that may not be the case, just like a few large venues local to me, where, depending on the suite, access can be anything from quite good to a complete nightmare!

No, I don't actually know, but that doesn't stop me from giving Rich the sensible advice of firstly checking to see which function room he's in, because with a venue of that size common sense would suggest it has lots of different function rooms all with varying levels of access.

That's absolutely correct Darren, and nobody else knows either, even if they HAVE worked at the venue, because Rich hasn't stated which function room he's referring to!

It's a bit like someone asking about the loading access at Kempton Park racecourse. Nobody could possibly answer the question without knowing which of the 10 or so function suites the enquirer is referring to, as they are all in different parts of the buildings on different floors and therefore they all have very different access, ranging from quite good to very awkward.

I'm not waffling on and on or taking the OP off topic, I'm trying to get the point over that NOBODY can help Rich without knowing which function room he's in, regardless of whether they've worked at the venue or not.

It's a bit like someone starting a thread to ask "Which disco light is best?" and expecting useful & relevant replies despite not giving any more information about their specific needs.

Am I the only person who can see that?

Hey Guys, yes it was me who plays the X Factor wrap party but at the studios not the stadium.
Rich my sister works at the studios so knows the venue and surrounding area very well, if you can confirm what funtion room it is she maybe able to help.

Venues quite often don't tell you exactly what the access is like hence this thread.

Surely if you asked them if it was upstairs / downstairs or if there was a lift or not or if it was along a long coridor or if there was parking or a loading area they would tell you.

I've never had venue lie to me before!

Perhaps not,but a venue is not going to know or tell you the intricacies of getting in and out and whether there will be any problems, which is where the forum comes in handy for sharing information and helping each other.

Now, we all know we can ring a venue and ask, but this is also a help if someone has worked there before, so back on topic please.

If I had a gig at Wembley, I'd definately arrange a pre-function visit to see for myself about parking, loading & to see the function room itself.

The time involved & travelling costs would be a very small price to pay for the peace of mind & to avoid any nasty surprises on the night itself.

Can I point out that my comment being made off the back of a conversation I had with the functions manager at Wembley Stadium during a gig I did a couple of weeks ago for the awards for licenced premises in Brent (the Ace Cafe won the top award). They stated that all the function rooms in the new stadium had good access. (read into that what you will, but it's the closest thing to the horse's mouth we've had).

I didn't point out this fact until now for a couple of reasons. 1 because of the way certain people went off at my original post & 2 because as they work there they would say that wouldn't they (they're not exactly going to say "no mate access to our function rooms is crap", even if it is)

Oh & apparenty you can use their loading bays, but have to park in the public carparks (as I did at the Arena)

Apparently they are on the 3rd floor and the other end of the stadium to the loading bay which I suspect means a fair walk.

By the way Rich, it wasn't a snipe. It was my attempt at humour without a smilie and I would have thought you would have understood that as you don't use them and you have said several times that people have misunderstood you because of that.

I dont know- there appear to be some but there also appears to be more banners advertising the advertising.

It was a genuine attempt to make a suggestion that might help generate revenue- looking at the banners they appear paid for rather than referrals and not exactly companies that I imagine many forum users use on a regular basis.

I dont know what the aim of the forum is as I said yesterday so therefore it's very hard to make constructive suggestions- if its a business then thats a different thing to it being run solely as a forum but I'm also unsure what you are asking when you mention "support"?
