My better half has recently been forcing me to watch don't tell the bride with her. A series in which the groom must choose every detail of his upcoming nuptials, from venue to cake to wedding dress. 9/10 they have a DJ and show them at the end, just wondered if any MDD members have been filmed on it? It's a good programme actually and gives a nice insight into the world of organising a wedding.

I agree that this is a very enjoyable show, and it's always interesting to see & hear the DJ & disco at the end.
Although I've never been filmed for it, the first time I saw this show was when the groom happened to choose one of my regular local hotel venues for their reception, which made it more interesting. Unfortunately the wedding wasn't on one of the days when I happened to be working there though.
Don't get me started on this. My fiancée has been watching and she keeps asking me questions like what is her favourite type of dress, what car does she want and all this. Ahhhh. lol.

My Mrs keeps saying we should go on the programme because they give you £12,000 to get married and since then, like you, I've been getting very detailed information on what she'd want lol

For that very simple reason, surely the show can't run for that long?

No paid actors, no studio set, no location shoots and just an outside broadcast unit one paid host and a production crew. That is cheap television if all they have to do is pay £12k for someones wedding.

That would defeat the whole object of the programme, it's about couples who want a wedding to remember and can't afford it. ;)

Cheap as chips is an understatement.
The show is on for an hour.
Some of the prime time shows on the major channels cost £1 million pounds plus per hour long show, so at just over 1% of that, I'd say £12,000 is pretty cheap!
I've just discovered that the current series features a couple who have their reception at ANOTHER of the venues where I do as fair bit of work - Sandown Park racecourse...but yet again it was on a night I wasn't working there.

My partner watches this so I sometimes watch it with here if I have nothing better to do. I have often thought that it is good advertising for a disco if they film from the right angles. Especially last weeks show in which Beat Box Entertainment got good exposure at the end with a front on view of the rig and name board.
I also keep getting the "What dress would you pick for me" types questions lol

I have not watched this program but a wedding that I am doing on October 30th 2009 is at Manchester United Football Stadium. It;s going to be all Halloween themed so everyone has to be in fancy dress as it is going to be filmed and show on the Living Tv program called 4 Weddings which is abit like Come Dine With Me but for weddings lol.
Now the bride has been in contact with me on sever occassions and we have discussed many details such as uplighting, video screen ect. She told me she has already been to 2 of the other weddings and that it will be screened early December.
It has been requested that me and any assistands MUST be in fancy dress which isn't a problem, (Don't want to be seeing my ugly mug on the tv!). I am going to be taking lots of pics on the night too and will dedicate a page on my website to it as I think it will look good "As seen on Four Weddings, Living Tv" on my website.
The Bride & Groom have also organised a coffin where people can have their photos taken whilst inside the coffin.
I shall keep you updated on the event as the date gets nearer and I will make sure any pics and videos from the night are posted on here.
I ask you can people not just get married these days and enjoy the day for each other. The above just sounds like one upmanship and not about celebrating your love and commitment to each other.
My wife and I had a truely wonderful day on our wedding day and although we put a lot of emphasis on the entertainment and booked professionals we left them to it. Wonderful day and still talked about over five years later. No fancy one upmanship stuff!

If you get chance, watch this and see this guy negotiate people down. At the venue he booked they more than halfed the original price, this must half been due to the fact they would have got coverage on the programme surely. But not just the venue, pretty much EVERYthing he bought was negotiated down by quite a large margin. The lad was a legend at negotiating prices......
